Lighting records aka Bonzai etc etc GONE

Just though i would post some interesting news.

Lighting records Has recently gone bankrupt. If any of you are unfamiliar with who Lighting records are, they own about 40 labels. The most sucessfull labels under "Lighting" include : all Bonzai divisions, Green martian, XTC, camouflage, and rebelgrooves.

Kinda shitty, Lighting has been since the birth of the UK electronica scene. They blame MP3's and music sharing for the dramiatic loss of money. Although this has to have played a role, Im sure there is more th the story, we will probably never know though. This bankruptcy really shows how music sharing has effected smaller labels. Cream has already closed its doors, "Global Underground" almost went under but i believe the managed to pull things together. Now Lighting, one of the UK's largest electronic music lables is gone.

These records just got VERY rare so grabe em if you spin these genres.

Wow, that fucking sucks. Do people really avoid buying vinyl because they can get it on CD? I dunno, the only tracks I play off CD are ones that I haven't been able to find on vinyl, or ones that have yet to be pressed. In that case, I always get em as soon as they're available.

Anyways, that's some bad news, I really like Bonzai.

In terms of electronica, it seems vinyl is still the choice. And this is why I don't want FinalScratch to succedd.

Yves DeRuyter, Push, and Airwave will find new homes easily. Its the smaller acts that were on the less known branches of lightning that will suffer
