Sony Headphones mdr-v700
For those who had or currently own a pair,
My pair is starting to crack at the part where the ear piece is allowed to swivel. The part looks like a 2.5 cm cylinder and where the ear piece connects to the headband. does anyone have this same problem. Thinking it may be from other ppl with larger heads putting more stress in the wierd angles. or this is normal and just bad design. MusH |

Dude I got the exact same problem and its getting worse progressively... First both right and left sides were only cracking in the front, but now the backs starting to go out and the whole crack stretches dangerously when I put em on.
Its just shitty ass design on the headphones and I dont know if theres any real economical way to replace them when the headphones eventually break(which they will). Shoulda bought technics, seinheisser or ministry's headphones =P |

I have that same problem with my Sonys
I guess some crazy glue could help prevent it from cracking even more..... Is there a newer design from Sony ( V800 or V900 perheps ) that have a better construction ( like stronger plastic or metal ) ?? Shity thats all i have to say..... |

ya that sucks..
i heard about this cracking problem before i got mine so i was always careful about putting them on and whatnot.. but i have another problem with em, the right headphone stopped working completely. it's not blown, it just simply stopped working. i guess since the ear pieces tuck in, there's contacts sliding against eachother on the inside and i guess it just got worn out. my advice: if you can avoid getting these headphones, do so. i mean sure, they look cool and they're next to impossible to blow, but for that kind of money its not worth it. |

Pegasus - Come to think of it when i cue up i only use my left phone and sometimes for some reason the left is really low and the right side stopped working. I thought it might have been my cart/needle but i think it's the phones going. It happens once in while.
Time to get seinnheisers. MusH |

The 700's are fine. They do have the problem with the swivel cracking, but one properly worded e-mail to Sony and you'll have a big bag o replacements.
I still ahve yet to find a pair o" cans other than the 7's that'll stay on my head no matter how hard I bang it, and stop all outside noise dead in its traxx when you put the cups over yer ears. Never mind, every mixer, every system, cue is always maxed....years into em and they still dont even crackle. :) |
