^^ as far as what an MPC does, the following is damn near true:

it does everything but make babies, and the next version might actually do that.

sampler, sequencer, you name it. it's most often seen in videos being tapped at by a wily dj type... those 16 black pads you see on the front are velocity-sensitive triggers.

i want one... i want one NOW.

LOL..ya man I was drooling to when I went to Tom Lee a few dasy ago.

Grasshopper, you dont have to use hardware to produce music now. There is a lot of great software out there. Go and do some research on Reason or Cubase SX. I'm using Reason right now and they have a great drum sampler. You can also find CdXtract, which will extract sounds from AKAI discs that you can input into the Reason Drummachine. But them me warn you, AKAI cds are really expensive. Also if your trying to look for them online, there very difficult to find because people trade for em.

Good luck.

Grasshopper, making a beat from your head to an actual track is a hard process, because you have to track down the right sample.

Akai, Gigafont, Refill and others are brands of sample cds.

sounds like the guys who ripped that release removed a bunch of samples to save space. if there's a custom install option try setting it up with only the core program files.
