New Cartridges

I'm looking to get some new cartridges because so often the ones most people have during my sound bookings SUCK and are dead. Twice I had times that the needles on one of the decks where so fucked the sound would only come out of 1 side of the PA if the DJ was using that deck.

So what's a good set of cartridges I should get, that don't cost too much to replace the stylus semi-often?

and no, I don't want any thing for scratching, cause a scratch DJs should have his own for gig.

Trackmasters are $125 each, and replacement stylus are $65 each.

They don't make the bananas anymore. Haven't for years....there was a reason they were so cheap, and people still weren't buying them.

well

since M44-7's hold up to a ton of scratching, they should last even longer if your not scratching with them....

Masterplan will hook anybody with rock bottom prices if u walk in and mention fnk.com.

Try em out they have a nice selection of products with better pricing than the bigger fish.

not to mention their inherent burliness. one of my needles has been collapsed (from a drunkass hick) for the past few months and i've still gotten great performance out of it.

they're cheap, stable, and they'll take a beating... i have yet to see a downside from owning them.

nice thanks guys...

btw why can not DJ just use CD's,,, even a 128kbps mp3 file from a good rip sounds about the same as a record,,, and don't get me going with a well mastered CD. hehehe Just Joking. I like to pick the Digital VS analog argument all the time,,, my bad.

well....clearly that wasnt me...since I only got back into town a few weeks ago, BUT, i'm pretty sure i know who that was :S and thats probably why i'll be taking over sales for the summer ;)

520sk are shit IMO and although I'm not positive i think Sasha uses Ortofon Concorde DJ, or Shure M35X...regardless...you should find something specific for your style...i heard you drop at pound once so i would suggest something with a lot of low end response (for dnb) so go with Shure SC35C or M447's if u scratch. If you like concorde style, anything off the Ortofon line is sick...but they should be modified to prevent warping the connecting pins in your tonearm.

booya.

damn right...dont just buy whats cool...look at specs, mv output, tracking force, frequency curve...all of these are important when you choose a cartridge. :)
