im thinking about getting a pair of ttx-1's in the summer. they have a much higher torque than the tech12's and it has a very modular design... meaning the table is very customizable and peices of it can be replaced on their own (so you dont have to take the whole table in to get one small thing repaired)

ttx's are great toys, and the torque feels nice, but:
1. ugly as sin. my god they're so ugly... i know looks shouldn't matter for hardware, but sweet loving christ they're hideous. 2. techs have enough torque. if you have the touch, you don't need the extra torque. power will never compensate for skill. 3. the pitch ranges are pretty much useless. seriously, just try to control +/- 50% over the space of about five inches... even with the (fugly) lcd display i've had a nightmare of a time trying to get that thing to be anywhere near accurate. if you're thinking of doing crazy trick mixes with old tracks at different tempos, think again. your copy of The Prodigy Experience will remain unmixable. 4. who's gonna pay that much for a table with minimal advantages? not me that's for damn sure. take the money you would have spent on 2 ttx's and buy 2 techs and a mixer. 5. modular components my sparkling white ass. everything in a tech can be taken apart and replaced, even if you're a goon with sausage fingers. besides, the tonearm goes in the top left, the pitch goes in the top right, and the start/stop and power go in the bottom right. nobody wants to work with a setup with shit in the wrong places, so where's the advantage? ok, maybe i'm getting crotchety in my old age, but until they're less ugly, less expensive (or at least more practical for the extra money you spend) i'm gonna stick with my MK2's. if you'll excuse me i have to go comfort them now... they're hurt that anyone would even consider replacing them and they need some cuddles. |

and yO doode... you also gotta think about the futtue... if your gonna be using the ttx you might think that its all fine and dandy and figure shit out using the added features like say you make some killer mix with some rnb track with some gabber beat overtop and you use +20 on one and -30 on another and you wanna do this at a gig...
what clubs/raves are going to supply you with ttx's??? none of them... they all still have techs... i say stick with techs cause they are a hell of alot more practical in that sence! plus the ttxjust came out... you dont know how long its gonna last you... techs have been made since 1968... if that dosent say something to you then i dont know what will |
