SO the new madonna flopped... I think shes done....
Her new album failed big time. American Life failed big time... It seemed like she still had it going on when "Die Another Day" was released but yeah.. Her new album got disasterous reviews, i burnt the album and ended up giving it away.. She wrote her own songs this time and it totaly Didnt pay off. I think the Madonna charm has disappeared...

who cares if she's getting old and wrinkly? and how does her attempt at movie career reflect back to her music career? and it wasn't her first movie to do bad...that other movie where she has that gay guys baby or somethin did REALLY bad.

This is obiously posted by someone who has no clue about Madonna's career.
Albums of hers have tanked before, most notably Erotica, which barely was certified double platinum in the US. Erotica received the worst reviews of any album she put out, not only for the album itself but for other media stunts she pulled. At the same time that Erotica came out, Madonna also released her SEX book, which she lately has admitted was a mistake. She also starred in two sex-themed movies that year (Body of Evidence and Dangerous Game). According to IMDB, Body of Evidence had a box-office gross of $13 million, resulting in a loss of $17 million. Dangerous Game did even worse, grossing only $72,495 in the US. Madonna has won more Razzie Awards than any other female, including worst actress of the 20th century. So, getting back to Madonna's music. Madonna has co-written and co-produced all of her music from the Like a Virgin album on. I can go on and on about Madonna, being a homo born in the 70s and growing up with her, but I won't. Sure, American Life isn't the best thing she's done, but it's Madonna, do you really expect something great?

Does no one else remember - I'm Breathless?
She's far from done , I think Die Another Day, proves that she knows how to do the electronica sound that people are into - Like he or lump her she is notorious for making people talk - and surprise surprise that's what we are doing, making people curious about the album and such. I was thinking about white girl rap - is it more shocking then white boy rap? does rap need to be about the hood, and ho's? Or is it possible to have a lower middle class rap, or an upper middle class rap and why is that any less authentic, sure rap comes from the street - but most popular (note the word popular) rappers keep street ties now just for street cred. like rock and roll, rap will evolve and maybe this another step in it's evolution. Remember before Eminem there was Vanilla Ice, not that Madonna is like Vanilla ( although she did have sex w/ him) but you see what I mean - there is always someone who tries it out - and Madonna is an experimental type, she sees the guys doing it and thinks that she can do it too i applaud her for that - I applaud her for making an album where she's playing instruments, and writing the songs and what not. I agree it's not my favorite - but she's not the Material Girl anymore, heck she has problems remembering the words to LIke A Virgin....She's evolved and it ticks me off when people talk about artists and want them to sound 'like they used to' If she'd been making music that sounded the same for the last twenty years, no one would be interested in her anymore - yes?

Bedtime Story sold more albums than Erotica.
And the first single to his #1 on the Billboard chart with any rap in it was by a white woman - Blondie. The song is Rapture and the rap is even sillier than Madonna's. Last edited by bubbleboi; May 16, 03 at 02:24 PM.

Madonna will never be remember for her mastery of music, timeless lyrics or any other such criteria. What she will be remembered for is two-fold. First, as an entertainer. Second, as a marketer (of herself); few people can claim as much success in the "I don't care what you say about me as long as you spell my name right" strategy of marketing.
As for success/failure, her 'failed' albums do better than most artist's 'success' albums; besides that, the success or failure of her music is only one part of her success/failure as a media icon, and this can certainly weather one poorly received musical work. P.S - If my wife hits her 40s and looks even half as good as Madonna I'll be a happy man.

i hardly call a cd which post over thrree hundred thousand units units in its first week a flop..you fuckin idiot. that bitch made more money in the frst week then you will make in the next 10 years of you're life. calling ehr album a flop is dumb, just like calling micheal jackson's last cd a flop because it only sold 2 million copies, most recording artists can only dream of sales liek that.
