Plump DJs - Eargasm
Release Date: July 7th
Label: FINGER LICKIN' Lee Rous and Andy Gardener, as the Plump DJs, have created a sound that has brought breakbeat to the forefront of today's dance scene. Their debut mix album "A Plump Night Out" on Finger Lickin Records was the biggest selling breaks record to date. Their recent "Fabric Live" compilation was the biggest seller in the series and the "Elastic Breaks" cover-mount CD with Mixmag sold more copies than any other issue. However, the boys are perhaps best known for their sell-out DJ shows, one of the high points being a 17,000 strong new year's party in Sydney, Australia. In addition, they are top-of-the-bill residents at London's Fabric as well as regulars at the cream of the UK clubs Bugged Out, The Boutique and Blowpop. THeir unrivalled ability to rock a crowd is just part of the Plump's swelling success. And now, the Plump DJ's consolidate that success with the release of their debut album, "Eargasm". The most eagerly awaited record the breakbeat community has ever seen. A landmark. Defining a sound and altering the course of a genre, "Eargasm" takes break-driven music to the next level. "Eargasm" encapsulates eveything that makes the Plump DJs tick. From jacking floorshakers honed throught their residency @ Fabric in London, to cerebral, emotive guest performances by Louise Rhodes from Lamb, Gary uman and award-winning jazzman Eddie Bo, "Eargasm" is an album of maturity that pulls no punches. "Eargasm" is one of those rare albums that sounds equally as good as whether you're in a club, a car, a party or a lounge room. Its intricate, deep textures and intensity are packaged with a reinforced funk backbone, foring a completely unique yet highly accessible sound. The album is chock full of highlights from the breakbeat heaven of opener "Creep Show" to the clipped funk and mashed vocal samples of "When The Funk Hits The Fan", from the hard-edged chill of "Morning Sun" to the steely, Numan-enhanced "Pray For You". "Eargasm's" appeal is not only solely restricted to the breaks fanatic - it has the potential to please anyone with a love for brilliant electronic dance music and has successfully taken the sonic revolution one stop further." I'm feelin that electro track, how much is enough. Though I'm not diggin' the title vocal, the break is tight, and I really like the flow of the synths, I love choppy synths!!! The track has a dope oldschool feel to it. I'm not really familiar with the rest of the sampler, though in stereo is pretty good!!
