just to clear this up i wasen't laughing or anything, i honestly dont care i was just saying that some people might find it funny cuz they classifie speed garage being on a 1 2 3 4 beat while , dnb/etc/etc/etc/etc. has a 1 2 3 3 4 sort of counting... but really who cares... i see how speed garage type wobbly baselines make there way into a breakbeat ... anyways whatever...

jungle... capitol j was spinning jungleincase your even bothering to check back on this
jungle noted by its double time hip hop drum lines with its single time basslines is more on the rap side of elecronica, while speed garage is a fairlynew genra of electronica, being a hybrid of uk garage (or any garage really) using the round bubble wavey basslines used over a 4/4 house beat instead of its traditional brocken beat... there is also a notable difference in the lerickes that are sampled between the two... speed garage has a "deva" feel to it, usually having a womans vocals talking about how you need to repect me and you need to live up to me etc, etc, white jungle usually has a mans vocals either ryming hip hop style or ragga style(usually a white man imatating a jamaican and usually dosent do it very well) i say thisnot to put any onedown but this is the best expanation that i can offer |

just incase the subject hasn't been totally killed yet, i'm going to stick the final nail in it.
Jungle, in the most basic of terms is a fast (155 - 200 bpm) breakbeat (syncopated 4/4 beat, with accents on the second and fourth beat of every bar), anything beyond that depends on the track, but usually it has a lot of bass, and "good" jungle also has some pretty dark synth lines. Speed gar(b)age, in the most basic of terms is a garage beat (a fairly medium speed [100 - 130 bpm] 4 on the floor beat, sometimes lightly syncopated, and also usually has accents on the second and fourth beat of every bar), so basically it's a breakbeat, just not as broken. what makes it speed garage is the basslines and the vocals. the basslines are usually off-beat (more syncopated) and very rolling and almost never distorted. the vocals are usually pulled either straight from 80's diva tracks (or are trying to sound like they were), or ragga dancehall/jungle acapellas (and of course time stretched beyond recognition). so, the main differences between speed gar(b)age and DnB are the amount of "break" there is in the beat, and the speed (and the amount of subliminal messages suggesting homosexual anal intercourse) oh, and shawn, i *heart*teh rav0r muzak tew! 10 points :D |

I wouldn't say that speed garage drums are breakbeats at all!!!! |

i would have to agree that speed garage is a little bit like breaks... and its a little bit like garage... and its a little bit like house... its a hybrid beat...
p.s. i have heard speed garage with distorted basslines, they just arent as comon, but like you say, they speed garage usually has crisp basslines as breaks do |
