Personally, i prefer the harder experimental dub/breakstep strains of 2step. Judging by what appears on the racks of local shops ( not much ukg related sounds we all know), it seems that local shops cater to dubstep tastes. Suits me just fine. Too much ukg leaves a baaaad uk RnB taste on the palate. UKG is top 40 music in the UK, and the hip-hop flavours aren't far behind.
Dnb began as a trickle in local rekkid shops back in the mid-90's, now look at it. I've been buying, supporting, and pushing jungle/dnb locally since those early days. Now look at the influx of dnb in this city. There's enuff to go round, imo. If there is an increased demand, record shops recognize this. SUPPORT LOCAL RECORD SHOPS! That's the only way music tastes/scenes develope.
Not enough quality 2step around. Ask for it! TEMPA Recs, Texture Records, Ghost, dubplate.net, and anything related to hyperdub gets my attention. You might actually hear some of it on yer local airwaves. Hint hint.....
