ed rush and optical....the original doctor shade lp
holy crap, is anyone else digging this one as much as i am? ed rush and optical are about the only drum and bass producers who seem to be able to do whole albums right. while everyone else usually does 3 good or great tracks and 7 filler ones, these guys consistently push out whole albums that contain pretty much nothing but killer tracks. and when i say killer mean killer as in leading the pack of drum and bass and putting out tunes that every other producer can only hope to emulate. even ones i didn't feel in the record stores, like "why" with mc darrison off of this album blow me away when i hear them live.....anyway, here's some samples, you judge. i don't know how long these are, but here you go....

sooooo many great tunes on there... 'Puerto Rico' and 'Heads Will Roll' are my faves right now. '32/8' is another slammer although it's been on dub for quite a long time now.... i know quite a few peeps are pissed about the exclusion of 'Goodfoot' from the vinyl, but i'm sure we'll see a 12" release of that before long.

listening to the mix cd right now... i just noticed that there's 2 more tracks (other than goodfoot) on the mix that aren't on the vinyl OR the unmixed CD!! According to the link in Auto's post, 'Kinetic' and 'Pod' are co-produced by Silver of Accidental Heroes!

ah... on closer inspection of the cd jacket, it seems 'Kinetic' was produced by Ed Rush & Sonic of Accidental Heroes, not Silver; and 'Pod' is Ed Rush, Optical and Fierce.
other collaborators on the LP include Virus MC Rymetyme ('Why?', 'Get Ill'), MC Darrison from the Movement crew ('Why?'), UK DMC champs The Scratch Perverts ('Get Ill'), and club-friendly house hitmaker Goldtrix ('Smarty Pants'), aka Op's bro Matrix. |
