Diggin for records?

Does anyone on this site dig? I mean, besides going through online record stores for new shit.
like going through dollar bins at wierd used record stores?

I never hear about diggin on this board, and its a HUGE part of being a dj.

I just dont see how a dj can just play out strictly NEW records, when theres the literally millions of other ones out there.

yep, I've picked up all the old breaks I always wanted this past year (FSUK 2, Policeman skank, etc.)

I don't dig at thrift stores or anything except when I picked up a copy of Corey Hart "Sunglasses at night". Mostly dig for oldies online.

I've found some serious gems in vancouver,,, at local record stores and from people who have changed thier styles.

here are a few of my finds

Nalin&Kane- Open Your Eyes (re-worked club mix)- cost me a whole $7 @ Otis,,, I've seen this record sell for upwards of 30+ UK Pounds on ebay. Classic tune from '99 =)

Andy Ling- Fixation (Airwave rmx) -cost me $20 from a friend I recently met. This record is very rare and is probably worth around $200.00 cdn

Jose Amnesia- The Eternal (Orig./Pulser rmxs)- I also picked this up off a friend for $20. I was offered 45 UK Pounds for this record,,, but declined,,, now it just got re-released :soak:

and I have spent countless hours tracking down records online,,, although they have not been cheap :keebler:

Sykonee will become famous soon enough
I prefer Digital Diggin' myself (purusing used CD stores). It's amazing some of the finds I've come across over the years.

As for vinyl, diggin at a garage sale often yields better results than any record store.

Nope. Reissues where possible (they're cheaper), usually originals though. There's alot of used records online, just gotta find the sources.

^there's waaaaay more used records in thrift shops & flea markets.... you gotta spend a bit more time diggin, but the good finds aren't usually priced by collectors, like they are online. so you can find some amazing shit for pennies. The best is if you get a chance to dig in smaller towns. I used to hit up a couple of shops in saskatoon that always had sick rare shit for like $3-4. I remember seeing many of those same finds in Toronto for $50-60!! in the same condition, too.
