Trancey Drumnbass

Seems like alot of producers are pushing the trancey sounds, from very smooth strings sounds to fuckin insane amens and basslines with vocoders and synths.... whos been following this sound?

If you havent heard much of whats been going on, check out the new Sonic EP on Space Recordings.... the tracks on it are Hacienda (house influenced but OH SO DOPE), Future World 2 (fuckin great), Then and Still Dreaming with Jenna G. Definetly one of my favorite EP's right now.....

Other big tunes that have been out for a while are
Insiders - Detroit
John B - Blue Eyeshadow
D Kay and Epsilson - Platinum
Concord Dawn - Take Me Away
Raiden - Fallin
The Trance n Bass CD John B has...

Concord Dawn are definetly high up there with fuckin CRAZY tracks rolling on dubplate right... their remix of B There 4 U originally by D Kay is just OFF THE HOOK! Pendulum from Australia just released Vault on 31 which has been probably the biggest track this year, always calling for rewinds everytime its played. But they have more tracks that are going to be out soon like Spiral, Back To You, Trail of Sevens.... all MASSIVE tracks with the trancey influence.

DKay, Epsilon and Illskills are definetly rockin it with awesome tracks. I beleive theyre from Vienna (i know DKay is), but their sounds are very musical and really destroy the dancefloor with proper basslines that make your head rumble!

Check it out!! Drumnbass is on fuckin FIRE!

Thats too bad =)

Definetly has more potential, but i guess we gotta respect mr, b's idea for it. If the breakdown ended with a heavier drop, i know it definetly would of been a bigger track for sure..... maybe someone might come along and remix it with a bigger heavier drop :trippin:

Martin, I remember you making a comment about Trancy dnb. It got my attention and then I d/led john b's trance-n-bass mix for Mixmag. Fuck this mix is off the hook.

Blue Eyeshadow rocks!

Concord - Take Me Away just gives me a chill up my spine. Ownage!!!

damn fukin rights man...

i've been feeling the trance-influenced drum n' bass for a while now...when you combine the musical genious of the epic trance sound with the sik, sharp, hard drums and quality driving baselines there's nothing that compares imo...it's also really fuking versatile...you can use it to build up in a set, there are dope trancey fillers all over the place, and when used right you can absolutely blow the fukin roof off a place...

concord dawn, d kay & epsilon, pendulum and of course john b are definately pushing the bubble right now...just wait until the boys from new zealand get settled in up in london...they will absolutely blow shit up...

i think this tangent of drum n' bass has SO SOo much potential as well...i mean, think of the history of trance! guys like John 00 Flemming, K90, Ferry Corsten, PVD, Steve Lawler, John Digweed, Sasha, Pablo Gargano, Danny Howles, Sander Kleinberg...and on and on it goes...absolute legends in the electronic music industry...imo trancey drum n bass has the potential of creating a history like this - untouchable...

if you're unfamilier with this genre of music i'd definately recommend checking it out...!!

producers to watch are definately:

concord dawn
d kay
epsilon
pendulum
john b
trace
rawfull
rawthang
stakka

then it starts to thin out...but definately take the time to check these guys out...

feeling it! FEELIN it!! FEEELIN IT!!!

also feel free to check out my last mix at www.nwdnb.bc.ca/mr.clean/mix3.mp3 and stay tuned for another mix soon to be posted for ya...

respect,
colin

^that's 'Morning Light' by Concord Dawn. Not a John B track, although he did drop the remix in his set at lotus

i'm definitely down with the trancey sound, although i haven't really been feeling a lot of the recent stuff. not enough emphasis on the bassline. I didn't think the Sonic EP was trancey at all, more housey to my ear - but absolutely ill either way. I'm not hearing a trance influence in The Vault, either, that to me is some purely next-level tech step shit.... although some of Pendulum's other forthcoming tunes are quite trancey.

^ Exactly!!! There's certain moods and feelings that trancey synths give, really powerfull shit!! But I'm not a fan of the ole 4 over 4, needs to be a break!! Although the production in trance tracks are usually pretty nutty, the boom boom boom boom kinda gets under my skin, imo. Some tech-step shit is sorta borderline trancey shit sometimes, I'm really diggin' this cat from toronto called dj alien and his track 'the fight', tech-step business, but kinda trancey, I really wanna hear some more of his shit!!
Hey where is vienna? austria or some shit, I always think it's in italy for some reason? So this is where the almighty d-kay is from huh, this guy is fuckin' crazy, he really needs to come here!!! I didn't think dylan was from there too?
Anyways, I'd really like to hear more trancey dnb!!

yeah vienna is the capitol of austria, all kinds of good music has come from there. Beethoven's home town, i believe. Also Kruder & Dorfmiester, Stereotyp, Dzihan & Kamien and Jazzanova are all from there. it's like the worldwide capitol of downtempo & nu jazz.

Dylan's not from there though, he's english. And D-Kay, while currently residing in his home town of Vienna, alegedly was living in Edmonton just a couple of years ago. or so i've heard, from reliable sources :smoke1:

the sonic ep definetly has very trancey moods mixed with house sounds as well... sort of on the lines in comparison to Robert Miles, Moogwai... smooth sounding. Future World is definetly more trancy than it is housey..

Vault yeah its more tech step than trance but it can still be programmed with trancey dnb regardless.

john b is booked to play the lotus again first tuesday in september.....i'd let more people know, but with three shows booked in between (RAY KEITH July 29, KAMANCHI (Krust, Die and Tali) Aug.12 and DJ Abstract the last tuesday in august) the official announcement will probably be put on hold for a bit to keep people focused on the talent we have coming in beforehand.
