killing my needles

So I was spinning yesterday, doing some really minor scratching and my table decided to die on me... It was like the anti skating was broken, and as soon as I put the needle to the record it pulled accross the whole record in about .5 seconds. I tried adjusting everything and tweaking like crazy...

I ended up changing the needle before I fully freaked out, and it fixed the problem... the needle that I killed was only about 3 weeks old so I'm a little shocked that I killed it so quickly...

This ever happen to anyone else?

Stanton craze model. Never had problems with them in the past.
