Recording sets
Hey everyone,
I was just wondering what everyone uses to record their sets? I could hook my decks directly into my PC, but I don't think my PC will be able to keep up for a full set. What about mini-disk recorders? (I'm not too worried about sound quality at this point in time) Cheers. |

first thing you need to know is that you don't need to go spend a shit load of money on recording equipment, enough people have computers now and everything you'll need for you computer to record can be down loaded.
mini discs are great for all kinds of recording. The only problem with them is you have to transfer the recording from MD to your computer to burn it to disc (unless you have a real tiime cd recorder in which you just plug the MD in to the CDrec. and hit ply/rec at the same time on both units.) If sound quality and mastering aren't the focus right now. I'm guessing you just want to get your beats on a disc. Try and record to your computer. You can get basic wave recording software (windows media player/recorder, soubnd forge, pro tools, cool edit can all be downloaded for free and used by you for recording purposes. Out put on mixer = line/mic input on back of computer. set you rec input level so your not rec to hot a signal and throw down. just make sure you have enough memory on you computer for the time you want to record. You should be able to adjust your recording settings in the recorders options menu if you have no room for a stereo 16 bit 44.1 recording (cd quality) you can set it down so less memory is used and you get your hour long set. good luck with it feel free to ask any more questions if you please. check digi design (maker of protools ) to see some really nice home recording set ups. you can also get a free verion of protools off the site. www.digidesign.com peace |
