records with a lot of static on them
and i dont mean static in terms of sound.. i mean like physical static.. like the kind that you can actually feel... is having records with a lot of static a bad thing? is it bad for the needle? im thinking i should probably get a new slip mat

shitty records
theyre either corroded down, dirty, scratched.. lotta things and yeah i'm sure theyre not the best thing for your needles either slipmats dont have anything to do with the static unless theres alotta dust on em that end up on the flipsides |

Gruv Glide gets rid of static and cleans your records. It comes with a stirofoam (spelling?) peanut to test the static on your record after you use it. works really good and preserves your record.
you could always get the Vestax plastic slipmats which don't create any static too. but having alot of static isn't going to hurt your records or needles, just attract alot of lint which might affect the needles sound some and annoy the fuck out of you. i haven't seen any lint or shit on my records since I started using gruv glide 3 years ago (I'm on the same botttle). rob Last edited by AWOL; Jul 29, 03 at 10:39 PM. |

damn.. i should get some of that stuff awol :)
and kpryde, im pretty sure its not the record... i mean im getting static on both my used reks and also the brand new album i just bought.. weirdness... im pretty sure its my slipmat tho! its not the usual material that you'd expect (the technics one is a rougher almost cardboard-ish material).. the one that came with my numark is a felt material.. almost like the material of a mouse pad john 2899131 |
