why do they have singers that can't really sing at all?? i think that is just a waste of money. it seems to me that they would just let anyone to be a singer. who thinks that this should stop?

Avril definently can sing, unless your a professional singer yourself, you can't really be a judge of that. Shes perfectly on tune and does all her stuff fine, whether or not you like her style or voice, is a different issue. And it sure isnt a waste of money, she was #1 for how long on the charts!??!

I look at people like Avril and say...Good for them they made it.
I hope someone else is writting her lyrics though because she's got no style if she's writing them herslef.

You Read her Bios and its all about he music and how Good she is and how great this track is....no "We played in bars and clubs for 8 years released four albums Indie and no one knew us until...."

Its all I was walking on the street one day and this guy came up and said I want to make you famous. The record company made Avril. they made her the way she is to make them money.

Hats off to a regular girl that made it big with something she is good at like singing...But don't try and sell to me that she is hard core....Straight edge....or true punk. She's a corporate whore like the rest of use...she's just more sucsessful.

She wasn't exactly "regular". She began playing guitar and writing songs on it right away at a younger age, and actually moved from canada to new york to write more before she even got discovered as far as I know. I'm sure she was tweaked and pursuaded quite a bit by the record company, but who isn't in mainstream music? If a record company is your key to fame, not many people are going to say no to many of their suggestions or orders unless they are way too extreme or the person has some fucking guts.

And when did she "self proclaim" that she was a hard punk artist? I never heard her say that once, because she isn't. That may be the way she dresses or the music that SHE listens to (yes its possible, fuck the Moffats actually have good taste in music... nirvana, the doors etc). Just because she dresses punk doesn't mean her music is punk, or there's anything wrong with her if it isn't.

And whether not she is a coporate whore or can't sing, is not punk enough because she's a mainstream artist or WHATEVER; I think she is alot better role model to young girls than Britney or Christina.

Avril has an extreme amount of talent for such a young age, whether it be musically, in her writing, or in her awesome vocal talents. Collaborating with producer/songwriter Clif Magness, Avril writes her own material, which is a refreshing change from the majority of the music industry these days, especially surrounding “pop” culture. Avril, may not be a hyperactive stage presence, but her voice commands respect, with equal parts baby girl and husky siren.

hahaha EXACTLY. Yeah the whole tie thing is definately overdone but at least the girls are covered up more by clothes than by makeup.

avril CAN actually sing. when she sings for award shows and concerts it's all live.
i'm not so much a fan of what she sings about...but shes got lots of talent and i think she deserves all the fame shes been getting this past year!

i agree, for sure she isnt the greatest singer. but why do people buy her cd's? i mean her lyrics are pretty hurting too if you ask me (ex. skater boi or whatever)


but it's all about cd sales so i guess if the retardz keep buying her cd good/bad doesnt matter
