need some advice on FTP Sites

i was thinkin of startin my own ftp site in the future and i was wondering what would i need [software hardware w/e] to do so..

i see that God and Mc Hammered have done so ...

yessah, Serv-U FTP is a pretty decent little ftp server.

install it on your machine, configure it, and live in fear of being sniffed and exploited for the rest of your days.

I use Bulltproof FTP Server, a dinky P100 to act as the server and 2 Quantum Snap servers as the file servers.

I'm using BulletProof FTP Server v2.15. Be warned, your internet provider will be watching bandwidth if there is a sudden increase. I've been warned multiple times and I had a friend who actually got there internet disconnected because of it.

haha yeah i know what u mean... i have a friend who downloads movies 24/7 ...so shaw calls him up one day and they're liek.. umm sir in the last month u have transfered over 5 gigabites of data to ur computer thru shaw internet access bla bla bla.. hes like yeah so? .. they said hed have to keep it down or they're gonna disconnect him LOL

5Gb in the last month and he got a call?

I get that in 3 days and never got a call from Telus.

im probally wrong.. an average DivX movie is somewhere around 700 megs not more than 800 ... if thats a movie every 2 days or so..... whoa.. alota gigs...

telus is great for ignoring high usage. they own the fiber, so who's going to charge them for bandwidth?

yea shaw calls me on a regular basis....if you get a call, just play stupid. it works everytime, youll just get a warning.
