guys talk about breaks that arent new or basically arent the current flow.. so why don't you post some of these classic oldies? becuase as far as im concerned, current break beats and florida go hand and hand.
Astroline - Close my eyes Three Twenty One Crew - E-F-F-E-C-T Orbital - Funny Break (one is enough) Tony Faline - Mind over Matter The Hotheadz - Move to the Bass |

up until like 3 years ago, breaks were just breaks. there were acid breaks, electro breaks, funky breaks, housey breaks, and so on, but they were just breaks. breaks were not defined by their origin on the map. on dj dan's loose caboose cd you had fatboy slim (uk), the electroliners (sf), earcandy remixed by chameleon (both from t.o.), rennie pilgrem (uk) and the mystery men (who were on a domestic u.s. label, but i have no idea where they hailed from). on czech's breakin beats in all directions you've got krafty kuts (uk), dj love (tx), dj volume (fl), huda hudia (fl) and b-boy (also hailing from the uk). it's all in how you mix it up, but most of what i consider the best/classic breaks can't be defined geographically, because they were the first. my style has totally changed over the past year, but i know that a good track is a good track, it doesn't matter where its from. my top ten all-time breaks is still pretty much full of "florida" type tracks, because of the feeling those tracks evoke in me every time i hear them.
for those who care, my favorite all time electronica song is "robert miles - children" and my all-time favorite electronic album is "beastie boys - paul's boutique". the first emotional, the second versatile, me is both 'em. Last edited by jmzD; Aug 26, 03 at 02:43 PM. |

just to add...anything done by the toxik twins (dj hardware and dj remix) back in 98' - 99' is the biz. crazy acid breaks, i found a few of them on ebay...checkout phunky breaks from the vault vol 2 if you can find a copy
checkout Stryke - Ascend (Hyperacidic Break Mix)...on his mind controller mix cd for the craziest build i've ever heard. its actually an acid techno/breaks hybrid type dealy |

Alive-Bryan Van Dalen,,,,,,,,,,,HANDS DOWN
But Number two choice would have to be the Counterflow\ Jawbreaker album on Moonshine's label, by-Bassplugger. That synth line n the b side is off tha hook, the progression in that track is amazing! Last edited by sydeways; Sep 01, 03 at 02:02 AM. |
