mashups are good and all, but can we please stop hacking songs into nu skool and just let them stand on their own merits for a while?

i like crazy remixes as much as anyone, but last time czech played in kelowna over the course of the whole night i only heard one song that was just a good goddamn track... no mashup, no remix, nothing, just a tune that held up as a solid piece of songwriting.

agreed (bout hacking songs into nu skool) I kind of have mixed emotions about guys I respect, like freeland, turning into pop tune remixers. Hopefully it's not a trend that will stick around.

I don't really think this track is nu-skool at all, florida style if ya ask me, but thats besides the point. I think remixes are good if the finished product is dope, if they ain't, well I don't know, just don't listen to 'em. If you're gonna remix, I guess just add some of your own flava, identity, and ideas into the mix. Remixes and bootlegs are sometimes no major pieces of work, but hell, they can be very fun and effective, and a nice trip down memory lane!! But they can get played out fast sometimes, just like anything I guess?

About the smells like freeland, it didn't seem like the floor reacted very well to it, well at least where I was seeeing things from.

yes, that track kills it every time. I don't really produce so I may not have the best idea but, first off it's a remix, a certain level of originality is already gone, 2, the drum beat in the tune is very similar to the original, 3rd, hasn't the tune been remixed before? 4 all in all, as compared to other freeland tunes, it's a step down, it sounds like he threw it together in his spare time for fun most likely, oh and it's not breaks, or nu skool, I guess, but that's the category it gets clumped into. I thought the tune was disapointing, but it's remix of nirvana and it works on the dancefloor. I guess I don't want to see uk shit become the next florida.

hey, Ya, I'm the one who played it in the morning in the breaks room. Volume Gave it to me when he was here last and then ever since then everyone had been askin me where to get it, and I finally told one person, and they couldn't keep their mouth shut, now everone seems to have it... lol J/J naw it's called Nervanic Breaks (dj Volume Rmx) but the only catch is, there is only one place you can get it!

Cheers,
Cinto

yea, i dont think so eric...
I read the record label when he was playing it and searched it on the net and found it pretty easily. AWOL did the same thing and he sold Kraig his copy.
I also found it in a record store down in seattle that seems to carry most of this "label's" records. They had records dating back to the late 90's there.. Not as exclusive as you thought eh?

hey Ryan, it's funny how you say that... Lisa told me you begged her for 2 weeks to tell you where to get it! I'm not saying it's the truth... I don't mind anyway man, hence the (LOL J/J)... there is never exclusive unless you make your own stuff! Even then there will most likely be something like it out there and if not at the moment you get it, but soon enough around the corner something will come!

Cheers,
Cinto
