DJ name: TORMENT
years spinning: OMG!! 10 years now Affiliates: my ass, your momma, EaRWax DnB Radio, THE FEAR @ CiTR Radio 101.9 FM, Nwdnb.bc.ca, Hardmusic.ca, NorthWest HardKore, NoiseLiberationArmy # of rekkids - not enough, but enough to get me through ( used to have lots more...) # of partays played - in North America, not many, but I'm the Frankie Bones of East Africa, and the Paul Oakenfold ofThailand. I'm huuuge in Estonia, and Angolia. Genres played: Originally a purest techno dj, but generally spin all styles of DNB, Breakstep & Dubstep Garage, downtempo, dancehall (occasionally), dub, Hardcore - gabber/noise/terror core, Breakcore, minimal techno ( whenever...), and ambience. I exist in many places. Do u? $$ spent on rekkids a month - i can be pretty bad. I took out a student loan back when, and my living expenses from the loan went to vinyl. I like sooo many different forms of musik, but have sort of settled on a DnB frame work for the longest time. $300 bux a pop on records is not unheard of for me. $400 per month if i have the cash to throw around, not to mention used stock, and cd's. ( i think i've been pretty tame over the past months..) First time playing out: At crappy house partays, but then on radio in 1995, with my first actual "radio beatmix" around that time too. Club gig - 1999, or so. Dj's who inspire me: JOHN PEEL, Eric FlexYRHead, Tyler Stadius, Dave Clarke, Richie Hawtin, Felix Da Housecat ( spinning techno, not the shit he does now), Green Velvet, Derrick May, ALEC EMPIRE, Basseck, NAHA, Dylan, Kode 9, ORIS JAY, Ltj Bukem, old Randall sets, Dj Sneak, the Stickmen, Dj Noah, Double D (Calgary), Andy B, Mampi Swift, Digital, good ragga jungle dj's, Mighty Crown Soundsystem (Japan), Mr. Dibbs, Marques Wyatt, Josh Wink, Frankie Knuckles, ADAM X, and Lenny Dee. Is that enuff?? Fave producer?: too many. Listen to my radioshows. BASIC CHANNEL comes to mind tho. Larry Heard aka. MR. FINGERS, Stacy Pullen, Jay Denham, BOMB 20, LOW ENTROPY, Makoto, Rob Data, Leon Switch, BLAME, Polar, High Contrast, Universal Project, Cujo, Oh and Twisted Anger Danny C. Favourite Label: from which genre? Too many to mention. But currents include breakstep/dubstep garage labels like TEXTURE Records, TEMPA, SOUL JA, Rat Records. Jungle/Dnb labels like 720, good Penny Black/Dread rollers, Hospital, GLO, Purified Audio, UP,Tech Itch, Metalheadz, Commercial Suicide, Contrast, Chopstick, CRUNK VINYL, Paradox Music, etc. Hardcore electronix labels like Position Chrome, Drosstik, Noise Liberation Army, Hardliner, Ambush, Peace Off, Clash/Death Sucker, Widerstand, Paranoia, Planet Mu, Restroom, whatever... Why did i start djing?: Hmm... listening to industrial, and early acid techno, combined with a love of early hip-hop and reggae/dancehall, led to spinning some form of rythm. Also going to deep house jams got me going back in the early nineties. Mixed cds? produced trax:... record one of my broadcasts. Free of charge, and great 3.5 HR sets found frequently on 101.9 FM. GUARANTEED. Will be getting some distributed Hardcore/Breakcore mixes out shortly, and some other assorted nonsense up online when it matters. LISTEN to your radio. BOH!
