Akeel: Playing CD-R's of peoples tracks with out there permission is NOT cool.... Unless the artist gave you it as a .wave file or high quality MP3, you are doing the track and the artist no justice by playing some shitty quality rip given to you by some dude on Soul Seek...
Why do you think I don't share any of my dubs with others... not cause I want to keep it to myself, but cause of respect for the artists. Not hating on you for playing Cd-R's, but you need to know the ropes of the industry, and I highly doubt that Adam (Freeland) is passing along CD-R's to you. -soda |

As long as it hasn't been copied i don't see what the big deal is. Its pretty much like getting a test pressing or a dub that wasn't ment for you, it happens. Somebody gets the track they don't like it, they give it to you.
Ofcourse the story changes if it is a copy of the original disc. |

i didnt think me posting my current picks was going to be such a controversial subject. Nor did I drop any names - and for the last time, i got some tracks sent to me. Contrary to what you may know about my "musical interests" or "who i know (or not know for that matter)"
Before I started dj'ing I was and still am a percussionist. Those of you that know me are aware I dont go around talking about my musical exploits but know i feel i should. I've played with the VSO, studied directly under one of Ustad Allah Rakha Khan's instructors, learned african drumming from a Ugandan tribe leader and have my Level 5 Royal Conservatory of Music certification. I've worked as a studio session drummer doing everything from commercials, sound fx, and musical scores. Needless to say i've met many people in the music industry in general - not just the "electronica" genres. I still get calls to go record an indian rhythm, or a tribal drum pattern now. I wouldnt still be getting these kinds of calls if i was a half ass musician or one without integrity. Bottom line, a lot of people have made assumptions about myself simply because they "havent heard my name, or know who i am". There's a lot more music out there then just breaks. Frankly, i'm a dedicated artist and i'm one of the best at what i do - i don' make assumptions of others just because i dont know who they are. as a side note - andrew you've seen me buy records from you regularly so you know i'm out there buying albums i enjoy. respect.
