You guys don't find ordering online is pricey? I bought a record for $16.99 but after tax and shipping it came to like $30! :284:

Tux is an unknown quantity at this point
never ordered vinyl off the net before, but today i picked up DJ Tiesto - Traffic from virgin megastore for $13.. and spent $75 at boomtown for 10 other records (6 new release), which seems a lot cheaper than if i had ordered them off the net.

I dunno about other genres but for breaks records you can get about 90% of the same stuff in the stores that you can online. Also about service and attitudes....i feel that Vinyl Lab was the nicest environment of any store i'd ever been to(not just cause i worked there). I also believe in what Wood was saying about online stores and support of your local record store contributing to the current lull in the scene. Very good points. SHOP AT YOUR LOCAL STORE!!!

Im all for supporting locals, but im also for supporting myself. A lot of the time ill go to stores and they'll be picked clean. so ive wasted my time going all the way downtown for nothing, as opposed to sitting at my computer and looking through 30 records that already have descriptions of genre so it makes it much easier. plus i pickup stuff i never would've found at a store.

another thing about buying locally. sometimes, unless you're down with the shop guys, they'll hold off the records for someone else...so you cant even get the 1 or 2 records that come in that are decent.
until some of the local shops can have the goods everyweek, and have an abundance...ill probably just stick with my once a month local record shop hunt, and do my primary shopping online.
