Buying records online.

Well this section isn't used much so i'm going to start some comments that will hopefully spice it up a bit.

Buying records online. The pro's and con's.

For many people finding that record seems impossible, going from record store to record store, trying to find it... getting side tracked, missing out cause it's sold...

well online most of those problems are solved.

They are usually much better stocked the the local record stores. Finding harder to get genre's is possible. It takes a lot less time (i don't like that cause i love shopping for records).

But there are some con's to it.

Things which I have noticed.

When I go record shopping, I will go through a stack of records, listening to them all... getting to know them then.
Online, for the most part, you find the record you want, click buy.
This causes you to miss out on a few records you woulda never considered.

When shopping online, you (at most stores at least) hear ONE side. and only one side.

and, you only hear 30 seconds of the song.

___________

Pricing. I have heard a lot of complaints about pricing, people saying it costs more...

In actuallity it dosen't. Records are not charged an extra tax as they cross the border cause they are a form of media.

My average cost of buying online 16-17 bux, tax incl.

___________

Stores:

I have only really delt with three, two indirectly.

The one i have most delt with: Imo records (imouk.com)

Here's what I have to say.

Good store, lots of records (hhc at least), updated site, pretty good prices.

Problems i've had. They can make some dumb promises to make the sale. (yeah... my records will arive from london tommarow and it will cost the same as normal shipping.....).
The order I placed took three days (counting ups fuck up, not counting holidays)

another problem. I confirmed the order made sure they had everything in stock.

when I get my records, it says i am missing the launch remix i ordered. Says they were out of stock and they have creditited my next order from them. Why didn't they just not charge me for it?

All in all though, it's a pretty good store.

Banging tunes

www.bangingtunes.com

The store for nu-nrg,acid/techno etc...

I haven't ordered anything from here. But All my friends have said. Good store, reliable, lots to choose from etc.

Juno records

www.juno.co.uk (mite be juno.uk.co...)

web site was down when i tried last...

Lots of stuff.... lots and lots of stuff.... wow. New stuff daily.

Problem...

They don't organize them very well...
Alphabetical. Sounds good but while going through 800 titles looking for certian labels etc... becomes a problem. Don't order unless you know what your looking for.

I've heard some horror stories about there deliveries (shittly packed etc.) but the one person I know that ordered from them said it was fine.
