At the risk of starting yet another music industry debate, I understand where you're coming from but if you are worried about sales of your music, then you are just in it for the money, not the artsmanship.
And, in that sense, the money you make off of music sales pales in comparison to live shows. If you intend to make music your job rather than your hobby, then use the various media at your disposal as your advertisement for when you perform live (DJ or PA).
