Mutant Dancehall?
Has anyone heard of this sub-genre yet? I've heard it's something like dancehall vocals, over a harder dancehall beat, with like, f**cking dirty tech-step/ragga jungle basslines and stuff.
If so, I have recently purchased one of these 12's not knowing the genre given to it.. and it is SICK. From what I've read so far i'm pretty sure it's what I have recently purchased, any idea of some artists labels or places to get this stuff? Peace. |

BOOOMBAAAKLAAT!
**Mutant Dancehall** Nice to see a random post about some new soundz around. Log onto www.hardmusic.ca and ask the same question! Active topic and suggestions on the sound/artists involved in ragga/breakcore and mutant dancehall. Good stuff. If you know anything about hardcore IDM electronix, the majority of the sounds repping mutant'd'hall come from breakcore jungle circles. Lots to check out. Unfortunately some of the best raggacore will not be found at say...... Bassix, or your local dance music specialist. But it is out there, and on the other hand, alot of hardcore/breakcore is totally downloadable, DIY, anti-music industry, anarchist, and anti-copyright. SPREAD THE WORD! Kuma's suggestions are pretty sound. And Tigerbeat6 and subsideries (sp?) seems to distributing most of the more readily available stuff in NA. RUpture is dope, and BUG remixes/releases are adding up. Razor X is also BUG central - rare 7 inch label, that I've only seen 2 people own in their collection. CLASH RECORDS and anything related to the mighty BONG RA is a sure bet. Loads more... www.hardmusic.ca If yer in the local Vancouver area, there's some radio show called THE FEAR @ CiTR Radio 101.9 FM which is apparantly gonna broadcast this weekend Oct 8/9 '03 which seems to be the only radioshow on Vancouver FM airwaves with the balls to fuck shit up regularly with the sounds mentioned. KLASH! (down ego, down, ha ha.......) Check my sig. Out. |

You know what? I had a look at home websites, rep'ing that whole breakcore, mutant dancehall sound. And man all I can tell you is "breakcore" is nothing more than a ton of really annoying industrial noises merged together into nothing even close to a 'break'..
now.. mutant dancehall however is fucking SICK. It sounds just as I had described in the opening post, and it turns out the record I have is by "the bug" and is called "Gun Disease" - I erge anyone into dirty d&b, dancehall, nu-skool etc to seriously have a look at this stuff. It's fackin cool. |

But its breakcore & IDM producers that are making that mutant dancehall you're stoked over. HARDCORE/ extreme electronix is not easy listening. At its "worst", or most extreme - which i personally like ( big noise fan that TORMENT), its not at all about palatability. Its fucking n-o-i-z-e. More avant than dance music. If you know you're shit, there's alot of history there within extreme & experimental musics. Not soother sucking rave fodder unfortunately. Obviously I'm down, and probably only one of a handful of dj's repping extreme electronix on this board, or in this city. Its another piece of *that* equation, ya know? I'm down. Not all b-core is noize either. Some pretty progressive breakbeat slayers are killling it in 'core circles. Distorted hip-hop, dub, ambience, noise, raggacore, jungle, and abstract dnb all gets play. Look around, there's lots to check out. Remember, its 'CORE. Last edited by **TORMENT**; Nov 10, 03 at 07:43 AM. |
