Whether it be contemporary or classic, there's something about Jazz music that soothes the heart.

Currently listening to:
Ella fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Lisa Ekdahl.

any one have any suggestions? :toasted:

go to the jazz night at um i forget the name of the place, but its located right next to the mac's on davie. they have really good martinis as well. and martinis and jazz go oh so nicely together.

there's nothing like playing jazz live though! There's one song i'm thinking of in particular...i think its called "sing, sing, sing". got a nice long tom intro that totally sets the groove :kimmie:

We play that in the SFU jazz band! Tis a fun song

I also just joined a new band called "fat jazz" thats made up of mostly music teachers thats pretty damn good. Im having to work my arse off to keep up but im loving every bit of it :) Its looking like my first gig with them will be dec 11th, so if anyone is interested in checking it out ill make a post about it when it gets closer

hahaha, dude is Tim Laithwaite still in that band?

i wouldnt be half the percussionist I am now if it wasnt for that guy :) best band teacher ever!

i bet you could just walk in, its more of a fooding chill out place than a 'club' ..but 50 days isnt that much so either way !

Hmmm... Im not too sure, I still dont know everyones name. Ive only rehersed with them twice so far. Im assuming he would be the drummer? If so Ill find out for you next rehersal :)

They play a lot of Jazz on Winamp radio. Lots of different types, Jazz/Blues/Downtempo. Ranges from extremely chill to high energy with that crazy latin touch. I recommend it. :)

Check out metalwood. Brad Turner as well. Brad is in metalwood, but he has a lot of trio and quartet stuff as well.

I'm a HUGE jazz fan. Instrumental and vocal. I used to sing jazz all the time, but since I got out of highschool I haven't found anywhere to sing in. My little sis is the jazz musician in my house. She's going to Cap College for jazz studies. Plays the acoustic/double bass. I know they have a lot of jazz shows happening up there every week.
