I still prefer a DJ use turntables to scratch rather than a CD player. Afterall these advanced CD players are trying to duplicate the effect that you can do on a set of decks.
Note: I did not say they are bad.. they are actually pretty nifty if you got a few thousands bucks to blow on a pair...i just said waste of money for a cd player, in my opinion.

this is a ridiculous argument. it doesnt just play cd's it lets you manipulate it like a record and do a lot more things then "just a cd player".
this cd deck is one of the most advanced out there, u can play 2 tracks off of the same cd, with two different outputs, different cue sources, looping and a ton of other functions your sony discman cant do.
as for the actual unit, if you wanna use it for scratching, its not as responsive as the pioneer 1000mk2 cdj. here's why, when u try and do slow more intricate hand movements, the processing algorhythms cannot keep up and there is no output. For example lets say you wanna slide ur hand nice and slow and really drag the beat...the unit wont be able to do it like the pioneer can and it skips and stutters...much less like a turntable. I'd wait a few years for this unit to be upgraded and then invest in it, especially since u can play two tracks from a cd, thats a dope feature i'd use all the time.
but this is definately a step in the right direction and what technology is moving towards.
