REVIEW : CDJ stuff and mixers
okay so lets start my review.
Numark CDX: aside from the specs on the website and the brochure here is what i think of the unit. the vinyl record is great and the unit was able to keep up with scribbles and every scratch i could throw at it. the looping effects was good and the built in DSP effects worked pretty good too. it has a reverse switch and a motor off switch. it has the break adjustment just like the TTX. so overall the vinyl feel and handling is great and since its a full size table its quite easy to use. the bad stuff ... the song selection is retarded because u use a rotary knob to select the songs. since this was a prototype model the start and stop buttons did not work. there is no digital display that can show u the wave form of the song like the CDJ1000MK2. it doesn have as many possible cue funtions. but when it comes down to it. its all about personal preference. if u like the handy dandy tricks and effects and technology ( i know i do ) then the CDJ1000MK2 is the one to get. it has a more solid feel and to put it simply well u can do more. 1million cue points on the CDJ1000MK2 the CDX only has 3000 ... nuff said.. CDX Street price $799US shipping in april the mixer.. PPD01 .. this mixer is pretty cool. all the high end numark stuff is powered by Alesis. the layout is clean standard clean faceplate. has 8 DSP that u manipulate using the crossfader. the S/PDIF and Optical outputs are good and usefull. nice faders, ugly knobs. but still works great. for the price tag of $399US with those built in effects its a great buy as u wont buy any mixer with those effects for that price. i forgot the release date on this. possibly around the same time as the CDX or could be available now. PIONEER DJM-909 this mixer is one badass mixer. pioneer hasnt come out with a battle style mixer till now and this one is SICK. the fader is insane. u can adjust the tightness/looseness to how u want it with an adjuster tool, totaly fulsh so u dont know its there. it is a non contact fader and its just extremely complex and said to be indestructable. the channel faders and replaceable and completely different(my only complaint as far as faders go) they are still good quality and smooth but non adjustable like the crossfader is. on the top of the mixer u have the touch screen interface for fader curve adjustments and effects and more. there are 4 effects buttons per channel and u can assign effects to each one out of 50 to choose from. sadly the CDJ1000MK2 doesn have its own built in effects so u would need this mixer to do some real crazy shit with but the CDJ has enough hot cues to do other things with too. anyways. so the pioneer is a sick ass mixer very very high quality. compared to the other mixers they had which had really crappy faders and no battle styles. with this mixer and the CDJ1000MK2 u can battle anyone with a pair of turntables. but if u get called a cheater by using your effects on your mixer well accept it cuz u are. but u have to admit theres only so much u can do with vinyl, new technology now takes your mix to a whole new level. street price $1199US this thing costs more than the CDJ1000MK2!!! damnit |

what r u talking about .. i think its a valid review. .. the CDX is pretty cool when i first used it .. its not released yet .. so on the prototype some stuff isnt working ... all of the equipment is good only there are features lacking here and there and then its all just preference if it matters if u have it or not.
dont be sad be happy .... go out and play with the shit yourself and you'll see what i mean u can look at the pioneer stuff on their site and same with numark.. i played around with them all while I was in Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show. Next week there is the DJ Expo in Anaheim so if u really want to check out some new stuff they will have it there too. Promo Only sells a DVD that u can buy for the Pioneer CDJ battle. pretty wild shit i heard too. |

yeah your review seems kinda old because i dont think they'd be displaying prototypes of the cdx anymore considering it should be out in a few weeks (or maybe its already out)
and as for the ppd01... thats been out since the summer.. even before the summer |

Half your review on the pioneer 909 talks about the CDJ-1000mk2 which by the way does not have a waveform display. Quote:
FYI all this gear is old news as stringbeans pointed out. I posted pics of the 707 and 909 ages ago when i got the press release. Now if you saw the new Pioneer DVDJ and had some comments on that, would be "sickass". Last edited by Akeel; Jan 13, 04 at 10:51 AM. |

I did see the DVDJ .. its larger than the CDJ1000MK2.
what i ment by waveform display is .. the grooves. like you know when u can see the grooves in the record when its spinning . the differences between the loud parts and the quite parts? well u can show that on the CDJ1000MK2 and also save the track on an SD card. back to the DVDJ the demo disc they had in the unit had a bunch of different clips of video and a consisten music track. basically anything u can do with the CDJ u could with the DVDJ. doing scribbles on the video didnt look all that great because the scribble would be so fast that it would only move frame by frame and some frames are so close to almost no movement that u can hardly tell your doing much that was the main focus of the their display what allows you to scratch the video is an extremely large buffer obviously. . they did also have the CDJ800 on display as well. in place the hot cue points it has a beat cutter thats what the guy called it. i never asked how much the DVDJ would cost and if its out already. as for the NUMARK CDX the one they had on display is a prototype model and they said they would be shipping in APRIL. The Numark CDX is going to be out in april. |

Hey nismo, it doesnt display the "grooves" either...i have no idea what your talking about and i've used the 1000MK2 extensively.
The beat cutter on the 800 is actually a looping feature which allows you to adjust the length of a loop on the fly. If you record a 1 bar loop (in 4/4 time) you can cut the loop to half a bar, a quarter of a bar, right down to an eighth of a bar. |

^^ on the CDJ1000MK2 does show it.. thats one of the things that the 800 doesnt have.
so u can see the all the loud parts and the low parts of the song .. hmm maybe this is a better example of how it looks. __|iIIL_.;|||;| <~ like the flat parts being very low or silent and the tallest parts being the loudest. like on an eliptical trainer at the gym where u can pick random and the height and resistance get harder on the higher peaks and easier on the lower peaks on the display ... u can use that as a visual cue. the guy said it takes a bit to process the whole track to show all of them valleys andpeaks. but once its all processed u can save the whole thing to an SD card |

akeel = 2
Stupid shitter that doesnt know what he's talking about: -1 i put you to the negatives because.. If i want a good review on cd mixers and stuff I'll check out various websites.. those critics seem to be able to put more than "this is one bad ass mixer" in their report. |

^^ shut up buddy .. I didnt have that much time to thoroughly review the product so i basically just threw down a basica run down of the equipment. I had other more important things to do at CES than to just hang around and look at dj equipment. for what u get on the PPD01 and for the price. u cant beat it when compared to other mixers. i read some of the reviews on the net and sure obviously if u wanted to go read a full review u would look on the net for one not expect to read one on here .. you for one are stupid for thinking that you'd find a full review on here to begin with. its a msg board. not a review board. I do know what I'm talking about because I was there and u were not so if u cant understand what i mean by what i explain well thats too bad if your too dumb to understand it.

LOL god nismo just shutup. I would take akeel's advice over your's anyday. Plus he probably he has a shit load of more experience than you do.
So you say your a DJ? What parties have you played at? I haven't heard of you at a party before...so shut up and stop whining. |
