Marco V, the Dutch techtrance jock from Holland that's still rising in the DJ Top 100 presents his sampler of his new triple mixalbum Combi:nations which will be in stores soon. Four tracks are selected from the album to be released as a sampler on vinyl to tease the fans a little of what is to be expected on this new album. With the truly taste artwork we find 2 vinyls enclosed, both containing two tracks.
A1: Futureshock - Pride's Paranoia (Marco V Remix) A funky techhouse start with some percussion and a techy bassline. After 1 minute an ultra cool sound marks the start of a deep groove supporting the bass. The vocals start here and are the most important factor in this track. A guy is telling a story, that's hard to follow, almost paranoid (maybey that refers to the title). The whole track is a great hybrid of deep grooves, the vocals are magnificent and wellplaced with increasing intensity. Damn nice techhouse track, excellent for starting a set. B1: Kay D Smith & Marc Tall - Praiseworthy Tunes One of the biggest clubhits at the moment and played by alot of the big jocks like Marcel Woods, Marco V. The hardest track on this sampler. A big bassline kicks off, slowly introducing an acidtrance souding melody, that's repeated over and over again. A flat kick and some claps support the maniac melody that carries the biggest part of the track. Simple, yet effective and very powerfull. C1: Marco V - I Feel You (Thomas Datt 2v2 remix) This is a remix from Thomas Datt, a guy also responsible for remixing Solid Globe - North Pole in the remix package. This time it's a Marco V track that he reworked on it's own. It's quite a trancy track, but still has some firm tech elements. The break is very trancy with strings in the background supporting the gorgeous vocal. When the break ends u expect a lift off, but the bassline is brought back and continues building up till the second breakdown where the track really does lift off. Some uplifting strings have been inserted together backing the vocals, making it a bit of an uplifting track. It's a nice production, but it feels like that Thomas Datt could not really choose what genre to produce and therefore it lacks in both the trance or techgenre a little. D1: Ashland - Clear (Charlie May Mud Remix This is a clubby track with some excellent vocals that are filtered through parts of the tune. The track has alot of flair and deep techny elements, but still remains with a funky touch. Percussion, effects, a rolling groovy bassline and the exceptional nice vocal samples make this my second favourite track on the vinyl sampler. Not a typical floorfiller, but excellent sounds combined give this one a catchy touch and are excellent to keep the attention of your crowd grabbed between blast tracks. Conclusion Very nice album sampler, with an awesome Marco V remix of Futureshock, which I'm sure will damage some dancefloors. Combined with the hugely popular Praiseworthy Tunes, will vinyl 1 probably be the most played piece on parties. The second vinyl is still quality, especially Clear is a track that needs a few listens to adjust before u hear the beauty of it. Techtrancers, essential stuff for you!
