Waaay back in September 2000... Back in January 2001, at EastVan. The Triton and Juno-106 were just there for the day, for a jam. Summer 2001 "minimal techno" studio Studio in Costa Rica, Summer 2002 Current Secret Underground Laboratory, deep in the darkest corners of EastVan! More pics on my website, http://mux.ca (Yes, we have a security system!) BTW - I'm playing next Wednesday at the Caprice.... :) |

Nah, fire hazards are mostly only when you're drawing more current than the wires are rated for. F'rinstance, the circuit going to my studio is a single 20-amp circuit, independant of the rest of the house. Now, if all of those devices were drawing 2 amps of current each, there'd be problems - I'd be maxing out the rated safe limits of the powerbars, overloading the house wiring, etc, and they'd start heating up. Fortunately, I'm protected by a circuitbreaker - if I go over 20 amps, the circuitbreaker cuts out, and I lose power to the studio.
If I lived in an older house, and instead of a 20-amp circuitbreaker in the basement, had wiring rated for 10 amps and a fusebox... and instead of a fuse, I'd jammed a penny in there... and THEN if I drew 30 amps of current up into the studio... THEN the wires would heat up, and it'd be high risk for a fire. Most of the gear is electronic, and doesn't produce heat or motion (two things that usually mean "lots of current draw" - like, blenders, or vaccuums, or TV's, or space heaters, etc). In fact, the SH-101 draws about 200mA, or about 1/5 of an amp - and that's one of the older, more power-hungry bits of gear! Most of those cables you're seeing are audio cables, which hardly carry any current at all - they look messy, but aren't even remotely a fire risk. :) LOL, bet you couldn't have guessed I'd have an interest in electronics! :P Last edited by mux; Feb 20, 04 at 08:07 AM. |

My photos are up in the gallery so I can’t see them right now!
For now the gear list: 2 x 1200mk2 1 vestax 460mkII vox ad60 vt guitar amp 2x kilpsch Heresy Loud speakers The guitar is run through a DI into the dj mixer so I get a pretty good sound being a vintage tube amp. plus the speakers also have a vintage gold quality sound. |
