80s Tracks

I'm a pretty big fan of 80s music, and i'm really familiar with the Cure and Depeche Mode (two of my favorite bands ever) but I need some more song suggestions so if anyone could help out that would be great :)

Along the Cure/Depeche Mode lines...The Smiths/Morrissey/ Bauhaus/Love & Rockets/Peter Murphy/Joy Division/Siouxsie & The Banshees/Echo & The Bunneymen...I'm sure more would come to me if I wasn't packing up to leave work...

Poppier lines...Duran Duran/Michael Jackson/Janet Jackson/Joe Jackson/Prince/Madonna...etc etc etc (same excuse).

It sounds like you're definitely into the bastard mix of stuff called 'new wave' - I call it a bastard mix because there's so many different groups lumped into that category...but I definitely listen to a ton of that stuff, here's some bands:

Blondie, Talking Heads, The Cars, Duran Duran, New Order, Adam and the Ants, The B-52's, Book of Love, The Clash, Culture Club, Elvis Costello, Devo, The Eurythmics, Erasure, The Gogos, The Pet Shop Boys, Tears for Fears, Joy Division, The Damned, Dead Milkmen, The Pretenders..

I'm probably missing a ton of artists in that list, but you'll probably want to check out a lot from those groups.

Thanks, everyone who replied :)

Myra, that's exactly the type of 80s I'm looking for, I've downloaded some pet shop boys, Erasure and Duran Duran.

If you guys have any specific tracks that you recommend please do so,

thanks
~Shadi

I loved New Kids back in the day.

And they're not 80s. They started kicking around 1990 as far as I remember.

The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
Men Without Hats - Pop Goes The World (or, if you're feeling trendy, The Safety Dance)
Chess Soundtrack - One Night In Bankok
Heart - Venus or Magic Man
Bananarama - (anything)
The Bangles - Manic Monday or Walk Like An Egyptian
U2 - anything off the Joshua Tree, War, Boy, or Rattle & Hum
Dead Or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)
Simple Minds - Don't You Forget About Me

Sadly, one of the greatest albums of the 80s never even existed: The Ferris Bueller Soundtrack:

Yellow - Oh Yeah
Sigue Sigue Sputnik - Love Missile F1-11
The Flowerpot Men - Beat City
The English Beat - March of the Swivelheads
Zapp - Radio

and it goes on and on.

Furthermore:
Gary Numan - Cars (actually, anything by Gary Numan rocks. I have a friend actually punched someone in the face because he said Gary Numan sucked.)
Wall of Voodoo - Mexican Radio
Tears for Fears - Shout
Parachute Club - Rise Up
Billy Idol - ANYTHING!!!! (Dancing With Myself, White Wedding and Mony Mony especially though)
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams
Thomas Dolby - She Blinded Me With Science
Soft Cell - Tainted Love
XTC - Anything (Senses Working Overtime being one of my favourites)
The Buggles - Video Killed The Radio Star
Pete Shelley - Homosapien
Robert Palmer - (anything)
Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax, Welcome to the Pleasuredome, Two Tribes, and a bunch of others. Relatively underrated often as a one hit wonder.
Re-Flex - The Politics of Dancing
Taco - Puttin' On The Ritz
Michael Jackson - the entire Thriller Album. Bad was decent.
Power Station - Get It On (Bang a Gong)
Flock of Seagulls - I Ran
Run DMC - ANYTHING (my personal favs: It's Tricky, Rock Box, King Of Rock, Walk This Way, Run's House (SAY WHUT?), My Adidas, Peter Piper)

That should give you a good start.
