DNB destroyed my speaker

so i got these nice JBL towers with 8" drivers, and im not even powering them to there max, but still, with a 12" sub, they absolutely pound. Turned them on the other day and was laying down a mix, and instantly i hear something has gone unbalanced, and i find out my left speaker isn't working.. so i check the wiring, the settings on my reciever, everything is fine and as it has been, but the speaker doesen't work.. i can hear very quiet sounds emitting out of it but still nothing.. the right one works fine, but my left one is fucked :finger: now i gotta mix with one speaker which really sucks for actually hearing how the mix sounds clearly.. wish i knew anything about how speakers are wired or worked so that i can see what was wrong.. grrrrr

BTW, i swear it was as soon as i started playing Hive & keaton - under pressure and loxy & ink - straight up menace, all the time that my speaker got toasted

And so u know i always kept my levels on my mixer good, and always kept the signal undistorted

did you swap the speakers to check that it's not the amp? Is there rest switches on the back of the speakers?

How many ohms was the amp? is it a pro-amp, how many ohms was the speakers.

a home amp needs a lower dBu then a pro amp... so it's more important that your mixer does not peek over much 0dB. Yes the amp will take it for a while but the inputs will burn out.

BTW at a show 4dB on the mixer is cool.

I can not help you if it's the pre-amp. But you can check the fuses in the power-amp side of your amp.

IF!!! you open you amp, make sure it has been unpluged for at lest 15mins. If you start touching fuses you might be looking at the ones on the power supply. And those long blue or black tube things in an amp are capacitors, they hold enough charge to really hurt you.

If you are at all unsure what you are doing with the lid off of the amp then don't to it. You can end up doing more damage to your gear..
