Orbital calls it quits with final album out in june???
The orbital boys have been huge infulences in my taste in electronic music..
It's a sad sad day... words from www.i-dj.co.uk Final album from Sevenoaks’ finest set for June release… Paul and Phil Hartnoll are set to call time on Orbital this June, some 15 years after first alighting dancefloors with legendary rave hit ‘Chime’. Dance music’s most famous brothers will play a series of farewell gigs in mid June, before releasing their seventh and final long player, tentatively titled ‘The Blue Album’ (a reference to their widely acclaimed first two untitled LPs, which fans christened the ‘Green’ and ‘Brown’ albums), on June 28 (sleeve pictured above). “I think we feel that Orbital has run it’s course,” Paul Hartnoll told the official Orbital website, Loopz, today. “We’re both pursuing different avenues with our music. And we’ve been sat, as brothers, in the same room for 15 years now–and studios are always confined spaces. I think it’s time for a change.” Fans of the Brighton-based duo will get a chance to say farewell to the band once-christened “Britain’s Kraftwerk” at a couple of farewell gigs in June. The brothers Hartnoll play Brixton Academy on June 25, before headlining the Other Stage at Glastonbury on Sunday June 27. It’s a fitting finale for the duo, who famously made 1994’s Glastonbury their own with a performance that even dadrock bible Q described as “one of the 50 best live performances ever”. orbitals website : www.loopz.co.uk Last edited by soma; Apr 25, 04 at 02:47 AM. |

Wow :|
Orbital was the first electronic music I ever listened to and I've been really into them for years.. I think they are making a good point with music running its course, it shows a lot for an artist to realize that. I'll still hold things like the brown album and insides very close to my heart, but I wasn't feeling their more recent stuff as much. How bittersweet to hear, I'd love to go see their last show. |
