Petter - Six Songs EP, 12"
Petter Nordkvist is just 19 years old, and comes from Stockholm in Sweden. His 'Six Songs EP' is two slices of loveliness-on-vinyl, and a more solidly diverse young talent you'd struggle to find. Drawing influences from techno, electro, dub, ambient, acid, breaks and deep house, and fusing them together in his own unique style, the 'Six Songs EP' is the new soundtrack to your life and offers plenty of scope for those DJs who like to innovate. Some of you, like us, may have fallen in love with Petter through his 'These Days' release on Holland's Deep Records last year, or maybe his mad-as-eggs remix of The MFA's 'The Difference it Makes' and his more recent interpretations of Rouzbeh Delavari's 'Inner Structure' and Powerplant's 'Turn It Into Gold' The 'Six Songs EP' takes those ideas further, at the same time highlighting the many sides of Petter's personality and also his wide and varied influences, with the symphonic tech and acid hybrid that is 'All Together' heading up the EP, backed with dub influenced tracks such as 'Left Turned' and 'Dica Drive'. And that's just the first disc. The second half of the double pack contains such tracks as 'Modern Eternity' and 'Tone Diary', both of which showcase Petter's melodic side, but still with a dynamic and twisted experimental edge, and being the lover of DJ tools that he is, 'My Pretty Guitar' sits at the end in all its splendour for you to enjoy and explore your experimentalist tendencies with, at the same time providing the fitting end to what is basically a groundbreaking mini album. Many a label will describe their new artists as a unique talent who is set to make waves in the production world over the years to come, but in Petter's case we genuinely, wholeheartedly, believe this is true. We hope you will too. A1. All Together B1. Left Turned B2. Dica Drive C1. Modern Eternity D1. Tone Diary D2. My Pretty Guitar www.noll8.nu www.progressive-sounds.com |
