SoniK is learning to spin breaks

Well i have bought a mass selection of breakbeats.

When im practicing an 45 min trance set i decide to go to breaks for the another 45 min set.

so trance to breaks

my last record goes well with the breaks but after that I start to train wreck like a mother.

So whats some good tips I can try to spin breaks and mix them?

would anyone like to hookup, smoke some j. teach me some shit and masturbate the whole night away (maybe just the first 2)?

or just tell me what I can work on, online.

later

Count the BPMs of each of your breaks record, and work from there =)

Depending on the breaks tune, I find that killing the bass often makes it easier to mix.

I'm not a breaks DJ, but I've never found them particularly more difficult to mix than trance.

I love the tracks on the mix, they're all pretty old though. Do you have many recent uplifters?

mix them just like you would any other dance genre.

its all pretty much the same thing. you just have to get used to matching 2step beats instead of 4 to the floor. it takes a bit of getting used to but its not that hard to adapt.

Pitch the 180bpm track up and the 400bpm track down, so that one is halftime of the other, then beatmatch them.

or you could do something cool like flick the cartridge, making it skate across the record and makeing people's ears bleed, and then xfade to the next track when the needle runs into the spindle.

now THAT's mixing.

Sonik!

I am just starting to spin breaks too!! I have been at it for a month or so now, and i think im doing ok =)

I find that a good way to practice spinning breaks is to just keep trying to mix the same record over and over, until you aquire the rhytm for the break.

Do you have any trance/breaks mixes?? I think i am going to be recordnig my first demo soon!!

Talk to you later!

right on!

learning to play breaks is super frustrating & takes time...but u'll catch on....count BPM's on your breaks records...listen to them over & over...learn them...killing the bass when u mix helps too...kinda hard to explain over the computer...but good luck!

djmarkpaul will become famous soon enough
mixing is all relative.

I've never spun hardcore but throw any rekerdz in my face and I'll do just fine - you know why?

because mixing is a concept. You count beatz - measures - match the speed - and try not to overlap melody too much unless they're in harmony. Then that leaves you with REAL mixing instead of tagging tracks from end and begining like I see WAAAAAAAY to many djs do. It's all right if you do that for a bit but not your whole set.

Kay I'm ranting. But if you want some help ICQ me and I'll show some mad brizeaks mixing n scratchin y0!
