Essentially it's a more faithful reproduction of a 303
Straight form the man who is making it

For all those interested, we have now provided a virtual picture of
what the Revolution will look like on our website: www.future-retro.com
The Revolution builds upon the existing features found in the 777 and
Mobius, and will provide THE most accurate 303 emulation as well as
provide many new features suggested by previous FR owners, and a
couple new unique features of our own.
Here are some of the changes/additions the Revolution has in
comparison to the 777:
*The Revolution does have the accurate 303 square waveform, which is
noticably more hollow and bubbly sounding. In addition the
oscillator's temperature stability and pitch accuracy has been greatly
improved.
*The Revolution has a swing feature for shuffling the timing of notes,
the ability to select patterns remotely by using MIDI program change
messages, the ability to play patterns forwards or backwards, and our
new remix feature which provides 256 variations of each of the
patterns you create. Note you don't have to program these variations
the Revolution does it for you, providing more than 65,000 internal
patterns in all. These are not random either, you can always go back
and recall a certain remix of a pattern, and patterns can be remixed
on the fly on a note per note basis. In addition, these remixed
patterns can be used to play the internal analog section, external
MIDI devices, or CV/Gate devices. Used with external software like
Recycle that splices up beats, you could use the Revolution to create
all new patterns for your beats as well.
*In addition, the Revolution now provides nearly two ways of
entering/editing all pattern information so you can choose the method
that works best for you.
*The Revolution does include 16 preset 24 bit effects processing, and
if the effects are bypassed the audio signal will remain pure analog
through all stages. The overdrive stage is true analog and is a
seperate from the DSP effects.
*For interfacing, the Revolution will provide CV/Gate outputs using
the V/Oct standard for the CV, and positive type gate with an improved
range of 0 to +12v.
There is also an audio input for running external sounds through the
filter, VCA, overdrive, and DSP effects sections. External audio can
either be mixed with the internal oscillator, or heard all by itself.
The filter input sensitivity has been increased so it is easy to
overdrive it's input with a standard line level to produce filter
fattening overdrive, or turn down the original source for clean
filtering. Also provided is a CV input for controlling the filter
cutoff with external CV pedals, or other synth modules such as LFOs ect.
The Main output and Headphone output of the Revolution are both
stereo. Although the analog signal is mono, the DSP effects are stereo
and the placement within the stereo field can be adjusted using the
effects L/R mix controls.
The headphone output can also be used to send the output back into the
unit either at the filter's audio input (for selfoscillation
resonance, or special effected feedback loops which sound completely
different than the original 303) or the filter's CV input for self
frequency modulation.
*The Revolution does provide MIDI IN/OUT/and THRU, along with DIN Sync
output for syncing up Roland's various TR and TB devices.
Cosmetically the Revolution has had a complete make over, which in our
opinion finally represents music the way it should be, cyclical! This
also makes more sense when you have the ability to play patterns
forwards/backwards and remixed, and see it's operation in action.
In addition, this unit will have a white UV finish for easy viewing of
the front panel when used in dark environments with black lights. Blue
LEDs everywhere, and oversized brushed aluminium side panels.
I'm sure there's a few features/additions that i'm forgetting at the
moment. For full details please see our website once the specs are
listed. Expected list price for this unit is $600, and should be
released in July or August.
