[THIRST] DJ Competitor Results
Wednesday, June 30th @ AQUA (pm me for a chance to win tickets, specify this date) Saturday, July 3rd @ AU BAR (pm me for a chance to win tickets, specify this date) Friday, July 9th @ THE DRINK Saturday, July 17th @ RICHARDS ON RICHARDS AJ Dub Secret Plans and Clever Tricks Breaks/House Fat, chunky, face-scrunching beats. No cheese. Tight mixing, tighter programming. Sick basslines. Dubby vocals. Every set is a story regardless of the genre. Andre Di Cicco Beats of Interest House House with scratching, breaks, hip hop influence. Ferris Bueller Barryz Dirty Dubz Beats, Breaks and Movers If it's good play it... it could be some MJ, could be some oldschool disco 12", or some breaky stuff from Timo, or some Chicago house. It’s all about good music. Jesse James Ever Delicious Vol.1 House I play a high energy set of tribal, intense, vocally house. A mix of great producers like Seamus Haji, Martin Solvieg, and Chus & Ceballos. DJ Johannes Gerhard Aural Pleasure 3 Driving, Uplifting Progressive Driving yet happy progressive house. I like to be taken on a journey when I go out, so I like to imitate that when I play. Bass heavy tracks with plent of synth stabs and prog vocals. I like to make subtle shifts in the vibe of the room... warming it up, raising hands, then dropping the hammer. Johnny Omega House Promo House/Hip Hop Lot of the great and late local talent here in Vancouver. DJ K-Tel Music For Freaks House A tinge of the old style electro from the 80's, disco and funk from the 70's with the house flavour. Sexy vocals for that identifiable human connection. Plus a little bit of the cheesy fun past that we all loved then somehow hated (but we all secretly love for some reason). DJ Nemesis Mixology Radio 2004: Alpha X Progressive/Trance Pumping uplifting trance, but I usually start off with progressive/house and build it up from there. I love a bit of good thumping tribal as well as a bit of a funky groove thrown in there before building things up to the more pumping melodic and uplifting stuff. Occasionally I also throw in a couple breaks tracks and a touch of techno. I always try to play a set that progresses and actually goes somewhere, rather than just cane one sound all the way through… something I will enjoy as much as the crowd will. Sometimes I play more towards the house/progressive side a bit more, sometimes more towards the trancy and more pumped up side… depending on where I am playing of course. Vinnie the Squid Bump in the Night Funky House DJ/Producer/Turntablist, with 9 years of background spinning hip hop and electronic music makes for a consistent blend of tight mixing, scratching, and turntable tricks, combined with the ability to operate many turntables at one time. You wont be disappointed! Congratulations to all the Vancouver winners. Good luck to everyone, hope to hear you had a great time meeting Pete Tong. ;) Also, I would love to know who entered beacuse they found out about the this competition here off FNK. |

Thanks de-ken! You can download the set that was used to enter this. Just go to www.djnemesis.com and it's in the audio section. Should be interesting this comp.. me being a trance/progressive dj going up against house djs, to be judged by 2 of the city's top house promoters (Savio&Alvaro) and one of the city's best house djs(Marcello)! Definetely a challenge.. haha.. but who knows. |

In the house competition in Toronto July 8 there is Cinar Onat (DJ Fuzion), who is very experienced with trance also and has had many gigs, and got to interview many big DJs for TV. Has a commercial mix double-CD out for a couple of years - "Trance Euro Express".
