again i appolaogize to the peeps posts i deleted to make the new poll.
religiously following drum and bass is pretty easy now adays. you have some many mediums around the world offering a glimpse into the drum & bass culture. web sites like DOA,DNB arena, DNBnation , even NWDNB.BC.CA have been quite informing as to whos releasing what, and who's coming up as a new prolific producer. as well as artist profiles and links to hundreds of other channels to access this sick, sick music. also mediums like online radio: Psidream & Mechwarrior bring VanCity and the WORLD, Overload Radio, Wednesdays 7-10pm pst. Also you have sites like Bassdrive and Drum and Bass TV which stream all forms of drum & bass / jungle 24/7 for your aural pleasure. i love d'n'b/ jungle in all it's forms. from 'old skool hardcore', to the more recent 'breakcore', and from the jump up & bangers to more tech step & neurofunk side of things the genre is very well rounded and has elements of hip-hop, punk, metal, soul and genre of electronica tinted right into it.. (even trance!) it's the most diverse genre in electronica right now. IMHO. then you my tastes branch off into mash up & ragga which is a genre that i'm still fresh to, but cats like Dj Angst have been teaching my the ways sort of speak, and keeping updated all on the newest shit. sites like ragga-jungle.com have lots of access to genres in the mash up / ragga / breakcore and IDM catergory. big up the jungle! |

lately i've been interested in the tek house/prog/techno/funky house. i got 3 crates of my buddies records i'm watching for him so i've been experiementing quite a bit, coming up with new things
always followed the hip hop shit. listened to my old infamous mobb deep cd last night.. good times big follower of the dnb. liking the heavy funk, the soulful styles, the uk massive shit, the new rock dnb sound, lotta styles but i'm very selective with what i play n buy.... can't say i'm feeling the tech itch evol intent side of things though which seems to have finally died down a bit. producer-wise i'm a big big fan of sonic. artificial intelligence is pushing a new style that i'm liking, the new high contrast stuff is promising.. really feeling that st. ives track, concord dawn wrecks it.. apollo 13 is HOT in my books, big big big follower of moving fusion..... waiting for more tommy knocker tracks to come out soon, sub focus's stuff sounds pretty dope as well. i'm hoping infrared picks it up again with better tracks the shit theyve been pushing lately is kinda weak.. i fucking hate those wobblers. really hate simon bassline smith and twisted individuals style... i dunno why the fuck people like their garbage. pendulum is hot shit, and damn big follower of the ram records! lotta new soulful liquid funk stuff coming out soon so it seems so i'm gonna have to keep my eyes open for those. |

I follow EDM, and all of its various styles, religiously.
I honestly don't get why people feel the need to micro-niche their tastes to just a fraction of music. I mean, it would shit d'n'b heads to know that Eat Static, as eclectic a psy trance act as I ever heard one, actually made a fairly smashing jungle track in the form of Interceptor. And then there's the acts like Banco de Gaia and DJs like Erol Alkan that just don't fit into any genre, so to speak, because their musical influence reach such a broad spectrum. Were I to list my favorites, I'd be here forever. As such, here's a link to my collection of music at Discogs if you really want to know. |

not that it matters, but Eat Static were the first producers to put anything overtly trancey in a dnb tune too... as far as i remember, including having dnb remixes of their later 12"s. Respects. I voted.. if i wasn't a dj, i probably wouldnt' be as hard into some of the music i like, but i'm not buying as much music as i used to either, so.. I know when i started buying rekkids and tunes specifically for dj-ing purposes, i really cut down on following and buying the variety of different musics i actually like. Couldn't afford to buy it all. I kinda regret that. Oh well.. can't keep robbin old ladies just to have new rekkids huh? MMM... i could have selected a couple more options - like the punkrock, and dub, maybe some dancehall specifically, but i'm not religiously looking out for all the music coming out now. If i hear it, i hear it, if its good, then i'm aware. All the dancehall i ever listen to are via soundclash recordings & such. Punkrock isn't hard to find (not like the old days... : ) ) and there is a good movement of dub in most record shops in town. Not hard to find either. Working at a radio station helps!!! |
