tunes for a teen dance
I have a crack at a DJ job for an end-of-summer high school "teen dance" as the sponsors are calling it.
From various DJ forums and another guy who DJed at high school events I've learned that most non-raver non-clubber non-music addicted teens are very conservative in their music choices at these events, and really only want to hear music they have already heard many times - top 40 rock, hip hop, rap etc. I have almost no rap and hip hop. So a lot of the house, funky house, tribal house, trance etc in my personal collection would not go over too well, I am thinking, because they've never heard it before and have not yet aquired a taste for it. I'm awaiting word from some of the people involved as to the type of music they want. Any opinions on this, and tune suggestions? Remember, this is not a rave or club event. |

You'll most likely only hear 7 different songs in that span of time on The Beat. Of course, maybe just having 7 different songs played on repeat is all they need. :P |

Well at least The Beat has a top 40 list the "Fresh 40" (mostly UGH)
http://www.beat.com/themix/playlist.cfm :152: Hmm they got 2 pac - california love - on now, not bad, there is hope! Now there's sumthin on and they're rappin about "SUPERFLY CHICKS" LOL. I have a friend with a Promo-Only CD sunscription I could hit up, for the new pop rock stuff at least. I have a great laptop and software and 2000+ tunes, I can do beatmatched mixes no problem, and an add-on soundcard so they sound excellent. Last edited by tvmann; Aug 25, 04 at 07:39 AM. |
