Postal Service and the like...

Who likes these guys? I was given their album in 2003 and have been HOOKED since. They are WICKED. The whole album from start to finish rulez... it is like Radiohead met Ladytron met Joy Division or something... :-)

I am totally into stuff like this these days...

Some of the artists I am listening to these days include:

Le Tigre
Postal Service
Ladytron
!!!
Franz Ferdinand

basically stuff that is a combinations of indie/punk/disco/electronica...

If you know other artists like these, PLEASE let me know! I need to expand my play list :-)

peace.

hehehhhhhee... I was not trying to turn this into a "who's cooler cause they have known about these guys longer" ... I merely wanted to tell poeple that Postal Service exists and they rule. I was in San Fran and half the record stores I went to had never heard of these guys... kinda sad, cause they deserve a lot more attention. Oh yeah, and I also posted so poeple can help me find other music like theirs, so if you got any suggestions, by all means, please post them :-)

You can blame Mr. David Grapes for my Postal Service addiction.

Ashes: I usually play that mash up live (when I am spinning)... but I can try and record a mix for ya :) (I am over due for making a new mix anyways) or record the set live next time I am spinning... we are doing a new night at the Lotus on Wednesday nights starting this week, where we will be playing stuff like this all night (info is here http://www.fnk.ca/board/showthread.php?t=60135 ).

Unfortunately, I won't be going to Dooms Night.. we are having our own little halloween party :0)

Robyn: hahahhahhaha! and you can blame me for getting Grapes addicted to them :-)

Seek out mixes from Erol Alkan. They're a might bit rare on this side of the world, though.

ffa- if i was from canada i would hit up yer wed nights! however, its a long ways ta go fer a wed from seattle... what about u neek? thats next sat, and my man is headlining that sho, if u can get a mix fer me, you should bring it to that! it would be tight, there arent many ppl who play anything like that down here... its all bout the jungle/DnB and shit like that... there's barely a trance scene (thank god fer my SC, bustin out tha hard trance, trance, and prog fer me!) and there is CERTAINLY no tek, and MOS DEF no minimal tek which is what i LOVE.

/\ damn! you like techie stuff AND Postal Service? You are totally gonna miss out on our Wednesday nights :-) hehehehehhee... (teasing).

U-Neek... no, I won't be going this Sat... BUT, I can put the mix up as an MP3 and send you the link :-)

and perhaps someday we will meet when you are here for another gathering. I used to go to Seattle parties back in 1998... they were fun, but then they got too big and the vibe was lost (same as the massives here in a way I suppose). And I know what you mean about Seattle's scene... last couple of times we went down there, we did not find any good electronica (house/tech/prog) nights on a weekend (I thought may be we are from out of town and not in the know ;-)

Postal Service are a new discovery to my but, my, they are lovely! and the concept of the band is very neat...

"I am thinking it's a sign that the freckles
in our eyes are mirror images and when
we kiss they're perfectly aligned
and I have to speculate that God himself
did make us into corresponding shapes like
puzzle pieces from the clay..."
