my review of pioneer hdj1000's
(note: this isnt a professional review, just personal)
just picked up a pair today i had a pair of sennheiser 280's before sound: i think the sound from the sennheisers were better. the sounds just seemed a bit crisper with the senns than with these pioneers. however, i know with the senns they had to be worn-in in order to reach optimal performance in terms of sound, so maybe it's the same with the pioneers. isolation: i liked the isolation from the senns MUCH better. wearing the senns was like wearing a pair of ear plugs. definately helpful when playing on a loud system. in terms of isolation, the pioneers dont really cut it. functionality: i like the mutiple ways that the pioneers can fold. they're also more comfortable to use when monitoring with the "shoulder-ear" technique heh look: the pioneers look WAY better than the senns. with the senns on i looked like an alien. also, the senns were much heavier than the pioneers and can stress your neck after a while durability: cant really say much about the pioneers yet but they look/seem pretty durable. the senns however arent durable at all. lets just say ive already gone through 3 of them in the past year and they all broke/cracked the same way. im not really sure if im all that happy with my purchase of the pioneers but i guess its a trade off between functionality and sound. i liked the senn's sound and isolation, but i really like how the pioneers "accomodate" the dj more thoughts or comments? |

I baught these when they first came out. They look and sound great, but I've had to have them repaired twice. If you use them a lot, the wire to the earphones will wear out and need to be replaced/fixed. I think they sound a little better than the sony700, but at least with the sony700 the flaw is only cosmetic. That being said, I like both models the same :)
