speed garage is ok to listen to for alittle bit here an there. How the fuck does it make its way into a thread about House tho?
Thats like talkin about hip hop, then someone starts talkin about 1993 and how they loved that one song Snow did..... |

well, it can be considered house music. It is 4x4 and it is house. Just basically all warped, faster and remixed up. In the uk it's speed garage aka bassline house. |

^Was anyone arguing that its a sub genre? I guess i made a shitty simile for the point i was trying to make.
bare wit me here... If we were to talk about heavy metal, speed garage would be the Hair bands If we were to talk about hip hop, speed garage would be the crunk shit heh, maybe not exactly, but something along those lines... keep in mind i enjoy speed garage and wasnt shitting on the music. But when people talk about house music, speed garage isnt exactly what comes to mind right away. because its one of the quirky little sub genres. One of the bastard stepchildren as you put it so cleverly! :) If someone asked you, hey whats a good house song? you probably wouldnt mention speed garage tracks right off the bat tho.. ...thats all im tryin to say Quote:

Way beyond
Years ago, back in 96`, Wax magazine was interviewing Dj`s who were spinning house music. These Dj`s basically said that people were branching out into new subgenres such as; speed garage, garage, trance, and breaks. Despite all the genre hopping and bandwagoning, everyone eventually was coming back to house.`
At the time I was really into Goa Trance and Rave music. House seemed a little bit to slow. Eventually, I started buying house records, but then decided to switch to Techno and traded all my house records. This was a big mistake. I had some really nice old school on vinyl, I maanaged to score some tech house, but in the end I just ended up back at house again. I`m home. |
