Dj's, producers etc w/programs capable of removing vocals from tracks..?! (help!)

I am looking for someone with a program or equipment that can remove the vocals from a specific song. I need to sing over the music for a performance and can't find the instrumental version.

(if anyone else has any tips on where a good place is to find instrumentals, especially old Jazz songs, or a music download site or program with users that would be more likely to have vintage jazz (as opposed to Kazaa) that help would be appreciated as well)

i doubt there are any programs out there that would just take the vocals out for you.
What you can do (we did this in highschool, for talent show.haha) is put the track on Acid Pro, and Graph EQ it somehow that the bass overlaps the high vocal pitch.

your best bet would be finding the instrumental version. you can always call the production company and ask them if such thing exists.. and maybe order it -

There's tools to do this, both hardware and software, but it's hard to find something that will take out the vocals perfectly. Really, its just a matter of removing the frequencies the vocals are using, which can interfere with the other sounds. I tried a few free/shareware ones around the net, and at best they kind of just muted the vocals slightly.

There is a method described here that looks interesting, if someone has the right software like Sound Forge it might be worth a try on a dark rainy night:
