History Of Electronica

a lil sumthin sumthin on the history of our fav musics

i only have the furst part to put on ill get the others to yah lata.

In the late 19th century and early 20th century,1897 Thaddeus Cahill invented the earliest and most purely electronic instrument the Teleharmonium or Telharmonium But simple inconvenience hindered the seven ton instrument .The first practical electronic instrument was the theremin, produced by Professor Leon Theremin circa in 1919 to 1920.The years following the world war 2,Electronic music was used as a way to exceed the limits of traditional instruments. Electronic composers joined with classical composers to create a more unique and beautiful sound. Soon television was using it as signature tunes for tv shows such as Doctor who. In the late 1960s to late 1970s the music was still being used in the world of classical music but within a few more years it was adopted into a popular culture and used in the early synthesizer music where Wendy Carlos took pieces of baroque classical music and reproduced it on a moog synthethizer. As technology developed the synthithizer became cheaper, more portable and robust. They were taken up by many rock bands like The United Stated of America, Silver Apples and Pink Floyd. Although not all there music was electronic much of the resulting sound was dependent of the synthithized elements . In jazz amplified acoustic instruments and synthesizer were mixed in a series of influential recordings.Electronic music became very popular in the movie industry because of how it could set a mood very effectively. Electronic Music featured in such movies as Clockwork orange, Blade Runner, and Alien. The techno sound was developed in Detroit and house music in Chicago in the late 1980s.Early 1990s electronic music was gaining popularity and different electronic music genres Were adopted by Djs of intrest in Europe and the U.S mostly .From there forth the scene began to evolve in clubs and huge productions were also put on in stadiums holding up to a couple thousand people,Featuring many popular Djs at one time. These Massives were starting a culture of its own and soon would be on the rise. Electronic compositions can create rythyms faster and more precise than is possible using traditional percussion. The sound of electronic music often features electronically altered sounds or samples of traditional instruments and vocals. Heavy Metal bands such as Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM and Severed heads took some of the the adventurous innovations of Musique Concrete and applied them to mechanical dance beats.Others such as Skinny Puppy and Front 242 Combined the harshness of there music with the earlier more pop oriented music forming electronic body music. The falling price of suitable equipment has meant that popular music has increasingly been made electronically.

rough draft still ;P

but for every one that made fun of my grammar n spelling...eat a dick :) and enjoy :)

not a bad little overview... the most glaring omission, at first glance, is any mention of hip hop / turntable music it's role in the development of electronic music and DJing being considered an artform. You might want to think about mentioning that, probably somewhere in between Clockwork Orange and Detroit techno.... fairly important, imo

Problem is there's wayyyyyyyy too much stuff about Electronic music out there that it really can't be given decent overview in such a small composition. Not to mention you leave out Frankie Knuckles, Kraftwerk, the Beach Boys (probably the most popular users of the theramin) and a lot of other key people in the development of Electronic music.

And if you really wanna see how complex it is, plug in "ishkur electronic music" into google and click on the first link.

And brace yourself.

My dad told me stories of growing up in Windsor ONT, across the water from Detroit. He said some of the stuff they would pickup over the radio late night weekends was bizzar at best. The term he said was Detroit Crapno. :)

dSl-DuDe is on a distinguished road
I hope you're still adding more to it Kyla.. I did a similar project in Grade 11 on electronic music, how its created and how often its used. Presented to the class, everyone loved it. Even showed a couple trance music videos with live rave content to the class up on a projection screen.. back then i wasn't a raver, and i didn't make anyone a raver at the time either :p

Good Luck
