Many a time I have tried to increase the CPU on cubase and there are a few tricks I will share with you:
1. Make sure not to use any color ever 2. Go to properties and change your display setting to 16bit from 32bit. (this is a general setting for the entire computer, anyway 16 bit is fine) 3. Clean up the track and remove useless VST's, EQ's, Autimation, etc. (this also implies that you've recorded the effects to the track already) 4. Never use the interent while running Cubase SX 5. Restart your computer once in a while 6. Type MSCONFIG in your the run category in your start bar and get rid of useless start-up programs 7. Don't run in duplex mode(dualsoundcard) 8. upgrade your ram ASAP (256mb min) 9. Defrag your computer often 10. Place files and folders in your D: drive and the sytem files on your C: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~ That should do it, if your still not getting any improvement, then buy a new computer. 9. |

I think the easiest way to save CPU is to just save a bunch of different Cubase files, so that each file is a different memory intensive piece of your tune, layed over simple audio bits... then you make a master arrangement file which is 90% audio files and 10% FX
saves your PC from having a nuclear meltdown you just gotta make sure to organize them in a way that makes sense to you... I name each file after what I've got in the file (ex: Bong Skank Bassline, Bong Skank Beats, Bong Skank EQing, Bong Skank Arrangement) |

10 is one I've never understood why people do. Possibly makes things easier/cleaner, and it requires you had already set it up this way when installing. Another thing to do in general is force the page file to a set size, so that windows will not keep making it larger (this will generally fragment it.) page/wswapfiles are already really slow, they really don't need fragmentation. ;) |
