Cart Break-in

I put on two new whitelable carts about a week and a half ago and now, after I have given them time to break in, one works fine and one needs almost an extra gram or else it is quite finaky for skipping. Do some stylus's just take longer than others to break in or do you think something is wrong with the one that still skips with the regular 3g weight?

i think with whitelabels they need to be setup perfectly (right weight, height, etc) before they'll be skip free. you might want to check your setup again. all needles do need to be broken in but you wont see big changes such as going from skippy to skip free

Ya ... thats the weird thing ... I set up both decks at the same time (same height, balanced them both, etc) and this still happened ... then to eliminate the decks being the problem, I switched the two carts and the skipping moved to the other deck ... then to be 100% sure, I swapped the 2 stylus' from cart to cart, so I'm sure it is the stylus itself.

And I dont know if I was clear in my first post, the "bad" stylus doesnt skip when Im just playing a record but only when I'm backspinning/cueing and then only if I move the record back and forth really quickly (which I dont normally do cuz I dont scratch but nevertheless it still shouldnt skip and doesnt with the other stylus). I can counter this if need be by adding an extra 1g or so but I shouldnt have to with two stylus's that are the same age, or should I?
