old is a relative term methinks.

and i think 'old skool' anything is thrown around WAY too much... its almost lost all meaning... i have this sneaky suspicion people toss it around to make themselves seem like they've been around since then...

As far as I'm concerned, "Oldschool" is either a subgenre of D&B or Hip Hop. Usually you're talking the DNB variety if spelt with a k.

And Oldschool lost meaning some time around 96, best I can guess.

Steve Thomas and the like made NuNRG before they made Hard House. And if you really want to categorize "Oldschool Hard House" as something, there's a ton that was coming out of Chicago long before the Hoover-driven Klubbheads stuff was coming out. And it's actually different than the HH everybody listens to today.

Sorry but I jsut notice the Vancouver scene to be quite picky and bitter when it comes to music. Its like you have to choose a music team and represent it by taring down other genre's?

steve thomas and the like were spinning techno before either. chicago hh evolved separately and differently. the harder sounds of early 90s UK were typified by these guys. any hard dance fan is indebted to them.

Actually, before they made NuNRG they were doing acid trance.... Before then I'd never heard anything of theirs. Track recommendations?

Kent (Ishkur) used to have his little Guide To Rave Culture (formerly the "Linguia Ravea") hosted on LoungeX. Every genre was labelled with respect to House music, actually.

Point is... House, by definition, is supposed to be funky.
