Makin beats
Ok I'm usin fruity loops studio right now. I'm mainly interested in makin hiphop/rap type stuff. I've downloaded tons of new sounds into FL studio but I still don't have 1/10 of the kind of sounds I really want. Lookin for nicer bass sounds, bass strings, lots of different guitar strings, better claps, lots of synth stuff for rap etc etc
What programs are better ? Last edited by Goodfellow; Dec 18, 04 at 01:00 PM. |

Well mainly fruity loops is prefect to make break beats, or ill back ground beats....I would advice to upload samples cause its all about the sample you use and how you use them, so programes are just a different way to use them and gether them and different differently...
But Cubase SX is pretty ill Or Logic is really good program... And reason 2.5 is good to.. But those are complicated to use if you just start.... Fruity Loops is one of my first programs that I used and honestly will always stay a good program... |

Yeah I agree it's still a good program. I would rather get the sounds from all the programs and put em in fruity loops for the interface. I just can't seem to find the GOOD sounds specific to fruity loops. when I download samples from other programs I can't seem to put em into it.. they won't show up in the folders.
I just finished makin a sick rap beat I need to setup an ftp |

For writing hiphop beats, Fruity's probably actually one of the best programs out there overall. Cubase is alot more flexible of course, but it takes a hell of alot longer to get a track up and running in it.
If you don't like the sounds in fruity, then sample your own. Got records and a turntable? Sample drums. and strings. And basstones (There's lotsa good ones on various battle records) and whatever else you find on vinyl. Keep the samples short and you probably won't have to worry too much about copyright lawsuit type stuff if any of your shit gets released either. Chances are, 90% of the samples you illegally take off hiphop records were illegally taken off another hiphop record, which were illegally sampled off another hiphop record, and so on. Another thing... if you haven't already, get in the habit of sequencing your drums in the piano roll. This way you can go in and manually move various even beat hits ever so slightly off the line and add your own swing to the track. The swing slider works too, but doing it manually can give the track a more natural feel. This also allows you to sequence short runs of 32nd or 64th note hihat runs and such, which alone can add a hell of alot more sparkle to your beats. |

Quote:
-Go into Options-->File Settings -Click one of the folder buttons along the left and add whatever folder your downloaded samples are in If that doesn't work, then maybe download a different version of Fruity. |

i added you to msn rytalin
no i don't have tables yet. i'm gunna buy a technics 1200 , and a mixer of some sort. so I can rip samples into my computer and do scratching what do you mean by sequencing your drums in the piano roll? oh, u mean bring up the piano thing and keep it looped while you add notes? that's what I usually do.. I start with a bassline in the piano roll and keep tweakin it till I get a loop that I like. then I do the same thing with the drums and add in hats and everything else 1 at a time. I have friends who are really good on guitar, soon I'll get them recordin riffs into my songs. also have a couple friends on drums but I find it easier to make rap drums/claps on the comp. maybe i'll use them for hiphop style beats. im downloadin cubase SX v3.0 off suprnova.. its like 2 gigs so im expectin it to have tons of sounds. djmarkpaul told me to get some "vst instruments" or somethin so im gunna look around for that.
