for some reason, i just couldn't get into the grey album... i don't understand what the big deal about that cd is.

it's one of those cd's that i expected big things from and was seriously disapointed when i heard it.

I've had it in my car for about a year and still gets occasional rotation.

You do realize that it's not "Jay Z's Grey Album" right? What makes it so cool is that Jay Z released his Black Album completely acapella on vinyl, and this guy Danger Mouse got the idea to make the instrumentals to go with all the tracks out of Beatles White Album tracks, and only that, so it's just a bootleg. The reason it recieves so much acclaim is because the breaks were in those Beatles tracks, but nobody used em like that yet (not to mention he manages to integrate them with the acapellas surprisingly well).

Anyway, the whole thing was done by DJ Danger Mouse in 2 weeks in his home studio, which is pretty cool too :P.

I think the original material is great too (Black Album). It's a very well-rounded album, with little repitition in terms of lyrics and themes.

I dont listen to all that much hip hop/rap but I have always liked Jay Z, and I loooove the beatles. Its two very different styles of music but they sound really good together. I liked the grey album, its a different sound.

Mueh, i wasn't impressed with it at all. I don't think Danger Mouse made most of the songs work, but it was an interesting idea...

I love the album, I like some of the tracks from the gray album better then the real one. But then again I'm older and have listened to more beatles then most kids about here.

I found it interesting as a novelty, but I didn't want to listen to any of it again after I first heard it.

i thought it was brilliant. one of the best works of sampling i've ever heard, and i've heard lots. On top of the obvious novelty value, i also found it to be a really enjoyable listen. i've pumped it so many times now, that the Jay Z originals don't sound right when i hear them.

That Linkin Park/Jay Z thing? holy shit what a load of trash. made me physically ill. I'm lukewarm on Jay Z to begin with, so while pairing him with artists i like (ie Dangermouse & the Beatles) may make his raps more enjoyable, dropping him over the steaming pile of doo-doo that is Linkin Park only detracted from his already questionable flows. definite two thumbs down on that one from me!

I want to take a time machine back to 1997 and make JayZ quit the music industry right afte reasonable doubt came out so something like this would ever happen

imo, reasonable doubt was his only good album, it just kept going down from there.

Gay-z is pretty meh in my books. his lyrics arent very exciting. i was watching an interview with him on leno or letterman or something and i believe he said he doesn't even write his own lyrics? i may have heard wrong, but that's pretty weak. i do respect him for what he has accomplished, the ownership he has and what-not.. but that won't let me respect him as an artist really
