Equiptment clones.. (eg: Behringer)
Just wondering what everyone thinks of equiptment clones..
For instance, I'm currently looking at a Behringer clone of the Pioneer DJM-600 mixer, Which currently stands at about $1000 (The behringer clone is about $200US on ebay) It's looks like a pretty solid mixer and has all of the same options and functionality of the Pioneer, for a fraction of the price.. Any input? Anyone own one of these Behringer DJX700's? |

I am sure Akeel or Gary can support me on this one, but the sound quality on the Behringer is crap over a big system. IE: if you were to ever use it at a club night or a party, the sound quality would be pale in compairson to a Pioneer, A&H or Ecler.
I assume this would mean that the recording quality off of it would suck to but again, Akeel and Gary can back this up with more fact than me. Peace. |

Yeah, this is just going to be a personal mixer at home. I like the straight forward functionality of the djm600.
Man i've used some weird ass mixers before.. has anyone ever used that mixer with the huge volume knobs at the drink nightclub? - not faders for volume, giant knobs! SO stupid! (And so far i've used the words giant & huge knobs in the same paragraph. Heh.) Anyways, I'm not looking for a big club banging mixer that will be used every night on a huge system. Just something that will work well for a while. |

the behringer sucks
the sound quality sucks but it really isnt that noticable unless you pound it on a big system... the main thing that sucks is the lameass fx pad. u really can't do shit all on it. for that money you should get the numark dxm06. the fx is really fun to play with and its got what you need for a 2 channel mixer. |

behringer is shit.
the fx are crap. all of them. they arent even the same fx as the pioneer, and they have retarded functionality. eg: they say it has something like 7 different echo fx...because each echo fx is for a different bpm range (echo fx #1 is 50 to 70 bpm, echo fx#2 is 70 to 90, etc) and so on for all the fx that it has. (the pioneer echo does not work like that...in fact, no real mixer that has fx has an echo that works like that.) For home use for a $200 dollar mixer though, and for learning how to mix, its fine, for making recordings...eh...well i wouldnt. This is like those toyota MR2's that have body kits to look like ferrari's....sure it may look like a ferrari...but it'll never run like one. |

Akeel, or anyone else? any suggestions on what to buy? looking to spend about $200US but i'd like something with an effects button, I really like the djm-600 system (thats why I liked the behringer) but something similar maybe? The djm-600 is a great mixer but a bit out my price range at this point. I'm not going to be using it at a club or on a big system, might do a bit or recording on it etc. As for that mixer with the knobs, the funny thing was that the night this mixer was being used was a breaks.drum n bass night (an old pound night, actually Akeel) but everyone was like, what the hell is this thing? So user-UNfreindly. |

for that price range your not gonna find anything comparable to a pioneer fx system.
www.eclerdjdivision.com, they have a nice compact 2 channel mixer that fits in your price range with exceptional quality but no fx. Quote:

just cause it looks like a pioneer doesnt mean its going to perform or sound like a pioneer man. Head down to masterplan and have Gary put them side by side, you'll see the difference big time. Behringer just copied the layout, the internal electronics are completely different, and the actual casing and hardware is cheaper quality as well. They had to design their own hardware for fx processing, which they cant copy off pioneer, leading to a really poor fx system. I've tried out the behringer clone and I own a 600, its a world of difference. I hate rotary mixers myself, but i'd give my left nut to have a Rane rotary console, thats probably got the best quality of any mixer out there (except maybe the allen and heath valve mixer). |
